Hmm, I can relate to the bust thing but from the other perspective. My waist/ tummy at 27/28 inches is not really too bad for a mother of three - but when my bust is only 33 inches and barely a A cup there is not much to differentiate it. I hope when I finally wean I am not going to get any smaller. (Mind you Maya, after seeing all you have gone through I'd rather have my bust. And I'd prefer to lose the weight off the bottom half so it'd match the top but I can't see that happening)

Ah, I guess the grass is always greener isn't it!

I would honestly be delighted to be a DD right now. At a 30 band size, a DD isn't all that big, but enough that it balances out the tummy flab and keeps me in hourglass form rather than apple.

Ever since I went off the pill I have been staring down my shirt, looking for any signs of wrinkled cups that indicate my bra is too big...but nothing so far. Sigh. The doc said if it were to happen, it would probably take about a year, and the most I would go down would be two sizes, but it's far more likely that I either won't see a change or will only see a reduction of one size. At this point, all I care about is that I don't get BIGGER. I'm already devastated enough at being an FF at a size 4! If I got any bigger I might topple over.

Maya, I think my change in bust size is actually hormonal. I've been pregnant/nursing for a good 6 years at this point which is why my bust size was enormous for so long. I think I am now back to my "normal" size. I'm actually a little sad because I feel like it did balance me out a bit and now my flabby tummy is more noticeable! So, unfortunately the change has nothing to do with losing weight (as I actually gained about 5 lbs since the summer). I agree with you totally on the weight loss thing - I'd really just like to lose 10-15 lbs and am finding it near impossible!

Maya, I feel your pain. My bust is very sensitive to weight gain too; first place to gain and last place to lose

R&D seemed great when I wandered into their sample sale the other day. I haven't really looked hard in Express or AT/ATL for buttondowns so I let it pass. Keep us posted if you get around to trying them!

Lucky you Shana! I desperately want to lose 10 pounds if only because it would shrink my bust a little. I'm convinced my bust size is VERY sensitive to weight gain. For every five pounds I seem to go up a size. At 105 pounds, I was already a D! But it's just impossible to lose only 10 pounds. Being just a little outside your comfort zone actually seems harder than being seriously overweight because it takes so much more effort to get rid of such a small amount.

In August of 2008 I could easily fit into a Banana Republic XS buttondown and I know this because I bought one for the interview that landed me my last job. Now it just doesn't even come close to fitting. I had to toss it--a perfectly good blouse! It's so frustrating. Every time I think I'm as big as I'm going to get, I just get bigger

Maya, this does sound promising! It would be great if you could check out the store in person and see whether the quality & tailoring justify the price tag.

I have two button down shirts from Ann Taylor (not loft) that fit quite well. Actually, my bust has shrunk quite a bit in the last few months so maybe button downs won't be that challenging for me anymore.

I think the regular shirts were down to c. $50, some a bit lower, some a bit higher. The shirtdresses were something like $60, which is insane.

The best thing about R&D (and I don't know if this is something they still do): so after the shirt I bought, I didn't buy anything there for a while, and they sent me an e-mail to take a survey and basically explain my absence (where I said, yo, prices, obviously), and then, to thank me for taking the survey, they gave me a coupon code for 60% off. Haven't used it yet, but it sure makes the prices go down a lot easier. Some shirts are on sale now for c. $120, but that's a lot nicer when it's under 50 bucks.

I think they've changed the sizing, possibly, since I bought from them, so in-person try-on or a CS phone call might be in order.

I'm going to have to try Express! The ample-bosomed ladies of YLF seem to rave about their shirts...well, maybe not rave, but at least suggest and recommend them over other brands.

Thanks for the review Dash. I'm sure they'll have other sample sales (must have missed your thread). How much did they cost? I would consider spending a little more on a buttondown since they are so hard to find and a necessary wardrobe staple, but $150+ is still way out of my league.

Oh, I just posted about their sample sale a few days ago! The prices were awesome! It's a shame it's over now.

I have one shirt from them, but I found the sizing to be all over the place. I think I ordered the 34DD-R (I'm about 5'4", maybe 5'5"), and it was way too big in the waist and the body, while also being way too short. I ended up exchanging it for a 34D-L, which works, even though my bra size is technically 32F and I shouldn't need a Long size due to my height. I would just advise anyone looking into them that the product isn't SO so much better than other things out there in the world (I prefer my Express and Benetton shirts), and the prices really are unrealistic for the quality, unless you are getting it on sale.

I did some research and found this brand/store that is right here in NYC that bases shirts on bra size, which is an excellent idea. However, they only start at a 32 band and only go up to a DD. I have some hope, though. I don't measure out to the 30FF that I am, more like a 32D, so there is a chance I might fit in a 32D or 32DD shirt. Unfortunately their shirts are very pricey, but certainly worth the cost if they fit. I might go there in person when I have the money, but I thought I would share my find for the other busties on the forum:

http://www.rebeccaanddrew.com/index.asp

They also tailor their shirts to fit different shapes (broader shoulders, straighter torso or curvier torso and softer shoulders), and they come in different lengths. if they offered free alterations, I would officially say I hit the jackpot. For now my assessment is optimistic but guarded.
