Echo, what about something designed for travel? I'm thinking there might be things with lots of compartments.

Hi, have you tried the Cambridge satchel company?

I've a navy satchel, which is lovely. It looks neat, can hold a lot and looks cute. It looked too new to me when I bought it, so I put it in the washing machine! It survived ! I've ordered a white shoilder bag from the and I'm looking forward to seeing how that is.

Hmm . . . my initial thought was to send you to one of the of the big online art supply stores, like Dick Blick or Jerry's Artorama, but I'm not sure that's quite right. Have you checked out Levenger? They carry a few bags that just might do the trick, or at least get you thinking about some different possibilities.

I briefly considered something like this, but then I realized that I really need to carry both papers in folders (that I keep organized in the 3-ring binder) as well as pens, pencils, dry erase markers, a small dry-erase board and manipulatives (small, almost-flat shapes designed to help students with groups of 1 or groups of 10 or fractions, etc.).

So a bag would kind of work, but I would need to carry something IN the bag that I could remove and open up flat with my papers in it. I just thought that at that point I might as well be carrying my whole office with me! So I guess I failed to mention that I'd like something I can unzip and open flat, but that is wide enough to carry a zipped folder filled with post-its, pencils, manipulatives, etc.

Now that I think about it, a soft briefcase that completely unzipped (like a portfolio) flat would be almost perfect. But I've never seen such a thing. : (

I don't know, do you think a folio shaped tote might work for you (binder sized, thin profile)?

I have an office at school, but I rarely have time to be there. I work with many students for short periods of time in their classrooms or just outside their classrooms, so I need to carry my materials with me. I have a leather zip-around portfolio from Staples that has done the job for me, but it is not big enough.

I am looking for recommendations for zip around portfolios, with a 2" 3-ring binder inside them and a handle of some sort (pull-out handles or a handles along the spine). Other features are negotiable. Leather would be preferred, but I am open to all suggestions, regardless of cost. I was lured by the soft leather of the one I currently have, but the drawback is that the handle has stretched the holder far enough that the metal tabs that kept it in place keep pulling through the opening.

I have looked at Staples (nothing) and have browsed Amazon, but they commonly do not tell what size the binder inside is (which seems like a rather important feature, IMO). But many of you are professionals or know of other, smaller shops or online places to look that I wanted to ask you all before making any decisions. Thanks in advance for your help!

Oh, and I would be open to other suggestions, too, for something to carry my things in. Perhaps there is something other than a binder that could adequately hold everything I need? Regardless, I am open to almost anything at this point!
