Love it, Jenny! It seems to be that you often comment in your WIW that you're wanting to dress with excellent fits and functional outfits, but also with some kick. A striped blazer is a great way to accomplish this. I have a cobalt/black one that I love.

My only question: Ponte jackets that are lined are warmer, and they may have more structure. That can be a good thing, or not, depending on how warm you run and the weight of the ponte. Talbots usually has nice ponte wardrobe items, so I think it will be well made.

I thought about the tailoring part, in order to pinch it in some at the waist. Because of my figure I am the least waist-surrendering person on Earth I think. It may be that I just need to get used to the look of a shorter jacket. I haven't seen this one in person yet. I'm hoping they'll have it at the Tanger outlet store for a bit less. If not, it is available at all of the Talbot stores in my area.

As I looked through my closet I realized that I do indeed have mostly solids. I'd never really though much about it before. I guess I'm not really big on patterns except in summer dresses. I would love to get a blouse with small polka dots. I would also like to get a long breton strip v-neck shirt (I think boatnecks look awful on me), but the breton wouldn't go well with this jacket for sure!

O boy, that is an Angie question. I am 5 5 with a very long torso and my jacket hits right at the top of my hip. I like it because I like how my button downs stick out a bit as do some of my longer t shirts. Do you like that kinda look. Hmmm.....Is there a hem that you could let down on the Misses ? Women's tend to be wider too, so you are right that it may be a bit boxy, though it probably could be tailored. Could you order both to try on ? Can you call Talbots and find out the width of the jacket ? I find that Talbots runs small.

Calling Angie ! LOL ! I am a lotta help.

Ah now my trigger finger is getting itchy!! Another question... I'm pretty tall and have an average to long torso. I have narrow shoulders and a big bosom. The Misses' size has a 22" back length and the Women's has 25". I hate feeling like my jacket is too short, but It seems that high hip is the common length now. I was debating about whether to get the Misses' or Women's size. I don't think I will be comfortable with a 22" back but I'm worried the Women's sizing won't give me the fitted feel that I want. What do you think?

Hi Jenny , so good to see you ! I hope those boys are well.

I bought a navy and grey knit blazer two years ago. I loved it but thought it would be a bit limiting. Well, it is probably my most worn jacket. And I wear it year round.

Yours, in particular, will go with everything in every color ! Colored Ts, graphic band Ts ( don't you have a couple ? ) , tanks, turtle necks, buttond downs, dresses and so on. I don't like it with bold prints, but I LOVE it with polka dots or small prints. And I get a lot of compliments. If I recall correctly, you wear a lot of solids, right ? This will fit right in.

It really is very versatile. And I think that it fits your style and that you will be surprised how well it works.

( I have never tried mine with florals but will have to try with small scale florals..per Karie ! )

hehe I hadn't even noticed what the color was. I assumed it was B&W but it's indigo and british, which appears to be an off-white or cream as you said. I'm not oppossed to a little pattern mixing. I thought it might be cool with a solid top and *subtle* print pants.

Where are we today fashion-wise in terms of navy/indigo with black?

It would go really well with black pants and dark jeans. Since it's a stripe, then unless you're bent on pattern mixing, it's best with solids. So this is mostly a topper for solid tops, or would need to identify the perfect patterns that would go.

I really like the cream/dark stripe compared to pure white & black because that works best for my coloring. But, that colorway works slightly differently with colors than does B&W, so you'd want to see if that's the direction you're going with your capsule. It reads "warmer". That makes it especially good for early fall, IMO.

What do you think of this ponte striped jacket as one of my toppers for my fall capsule? I have a gift card to Talbots that I need to use. Do you think the stripes would be versatile enough to be part of a very small capsule (probably not much more than the 6 tops, 3 pants, 2 toppers and 2 shoes Angie talked about)? For pants right now I have some black ponte skinny jeans and a pair of relatively dark blue Gap 1969 sexy boot jeans. That's about it. I want to find a subtle pattern pant, preferably in a straight leg (which is proving to be elusive!)

I haven't started a search for tops yet, but right now I have a couple of close-fitting thin turtlenecks and a couple of long-sleeved close-fitting Gap v-neck t-shirts.
