I LOVE Carol's Daughter's Hair Milk (the Lite one): http://sephora.com/browse/prod.....oryId=5866

It keeps my waves/loose curls separate without giving my hair any crunch at all, everything stays very soft. I bet it might help with that pieciness you want. Smells great, and since I only use about a pea-sized amount (for very thick shoulder-length hair), the tiny travel size lasted well over six months.

Melissa - Thanks for giving me the hope that there is one out there for me.

Kellygirl - Thanks for the tip--I know my sis likes something from Garnier for her short spiky hair. I wonder if it is the same thing. You always have nice definition in your hair.

Misia - Great to have your professional experience. I will give this product a whirl. It does sound just like what I am looking for.

In case anyone else has some favorite tricks up their sleeve, I understand I might have to kiss a few toads as we are all different...

I like Garnier Fructis Brillantine Wax. I used to be able to find it at Target but noticed they haven't been stocking it lately. My hair is thick and it is one of the few products that gives me separation. When my hair was shorter, I used Bumble and Bumble's Sumo Wax but it's too sticky for me now that my hair is a bit longer. I haven't had much success with the spray wax.

Trial and error has been my friend finding pomade. I must have tried 6 before I found a keeper, but I doubt mine would work the same for you, as I seem to recall that you have much thicker hair with more body than I do.

I would like to play up the piece-iness of my (long, thick, layered) hair. I have been using Paul Mitchell Dry Wax, and while it gives me separation, it also makes my hair look a little matte and dried out. Do you have anything that you like for this purpose? Or other words of wisdom?
