Wow! Feet are SO different! Here’s my foot temperature dressing formula:

o	Anything below 60 degrees – boots, boots, boots and more boots (knee-high, ankle and booties)

o	Below 55 degrees – weather proof boots over skinnies

o	Snow and sleet – Docs

o	50 to 75 – Converse, pumps with or without hose

o	65 and upwards – shoes without socks like ballet flats, slingbacks and pumps. I can wear this type of shoe in 100 degrees.

o	I do not wear sandals. But I’ll put my new gladiators to the test at 80 degrees and hotter.

It’s obvious that Inge, Patience, Sarah and I suffer from cold feet!

This reminds me about how I always say I should keep a diary of the temps and what I wore to exercise outside, so I can remember next time how to properly dress for the weather.

Knee boots - with socks and skinny jeans - 45 and below

Knee boots - with tights (no socks) and a dress - 55 and below

Ankle boots - with warm socks or with thin trouser socks - 55 and below

Fashion sneakers - Converses - 55 and above

Fashion sneakers - that have a thicker sole - 32 and above (assuming it's not snowing); I have a pair that get too hot above 65, but are quite toasty even in freezing weather.

Pumps - with tights - if a formal event requires it, any weather though I may wear Uggs to get there.

Pumps/flats - without tights - 55ish and above assuming I'm wearing jeans and not a skirt. My rule of thumb is this: if it's warm enough to wear a spring or fall jacket and not my winter coat, then it is warm enough to go without tights and wear pumps and flats. But this does not apply to skirts/dresses. Going bare-legged with these.... probably doesn't happen until it hits closer to the 70s. This year I will try pairing my spring skirts with boots and no tights... a look I have never done because I think my feet will get sweaty and yucky without tights. But, I'll *try.*

Sandals - at least 75.

I have seen tons of people here in Boston wearing thong flip-flops in 45-55 degree weather! While still wearing winter coats on top. It just seems very WRONG to me. Unless one is running in and out of the nail shop to get a pedicure.

P.s. 10 years ago I would've said a lot differently, but since I hit my 40s I find I run much hotter than I used to!

I am not surprised location/climate influences our footwear choices; I'm in Chicago, and it takes a long time for us to get to consistent warm weather. By then, it's April/May and everyone else is already talking sandals! I don't really go by temps, I go by season.

knee boots -- early spring, fall and winter
ankle boots -- same as knee boots
fashion sneakers and socks -- all year long, although the socks get ditched when it's warm enough
pumps/flats -- pumps are all year long, flats are when it's warm enough not to wear socks
sandals -- May/June to September

knee boots & ankle boots - winter (not usually into March)

fashion sneakers and socks - anytime

pumps/flats - anytime it's above 40 degrees I might slip some on!

sandals - anytime it's above 40 degrees and about April - September I might slip some on.

About 2" slip on - about year-round other than April or May through maybe August

knee boot: 50 and below
ankle boots: 55 and below (fall & spring)
fashion sneakers and socks: don't have any! my sneakers are anything but fashionable
pumps/flats: 50 and above (depending on the occasion, I wear pumps year round)
sandals: 55 and above

I do think it's heavily influenced by where you live. I love wearing sandals and would probably wear them year round if I lived in TX!

Oops, had to edit b/c I realized that I meant 50 and below with the knee high boots!

interesting thread!

knee boots - with jeans, 50 and under; with skirts, up to 70 (too many other variables though - black boots only up to april, afterwards i'll try to stick to lighter colored ones, suede only in fall and winter, but not when it's wet, wellies in the rain no matter the temp, etc...)
ankle boots - temps probably up to 70, but not in snow for the same reason as maya - no to wet pant hems!
fashion sneakers - probably between 50-70, mostly in the 50s and 60s, otherwise it's either too cold or my feet sweat...
pumps/flats - from the 50s and up, i live in these. heh.
sandals - high 70s and up.

This is very interesting. Thanks for indulging me, ladies. I'm not surprised that where you live influences your answer. For me:

knee boots - tucked with jeans: up to 65; with skirts up to 75
ankle boots - up to 70
fashion sneakers - up to 80
pumps/flats - 55-85
sandals - generally > 90; dressy sandals > 65 but not very often

Keep in mind that where I live, we don't have snow and once May starts we don't usually see temps below 90 (except at night).

knee boots--Wellies, I'll wear in any temperature above 40 if its rainy. Regular winter-style Knee boots, I usually wear if it is 40 or under.
ankle boots--don't own them.
fashion sneakers and socks--I might wear these when it is in the upper 40s and on up, but really only in the upper 50's and 60's. I don't usually wear socks with them, unless it is cold.
pumps/flats--20s and up, if it is not snowing/raining. I can handle these shoes with tights if it is mid-20s or warmer.
sandals--Dressy sandals, I will wear into the upper 50s if I won't be out for long. Other sandals (like not for fancy evenings out), it has to be in the upper 60s at a minimum.

knee boots- I'm wearing some today and it's supposed to hit 81 outside. I work in a cold office though, and today is supposed to be overcast. Eighty is probably my max temp. I'll probably quit wearing these around the first of April because it would look silly with our weather.
ankle boots- I sadly don't own any!
fashion sneakers and socks- I'm not a huge fashion sneaker person, but if I had some I'd wear them year round if sandals weren't appropriate.
pumps/flats- Year round.
sandals- Flat sandals I wear only in the summer (which has already started around here, I guess!), and I wear heeled sandals year round - sometimes paired with tights.

knee boots: I'll wear my darker boots at 40 and under, lighter boots at 60 and under, and always wear boots in the snow
ankle boots: Same as above, but I will not wear them in the snow because they are worn under pants and not over.
fashion sneakers and socks: this is a year-round option for me as long as the weather is dry. In the winter, I usually only wear them if temps are above 30, or if I'm not going to be outside much.
pumps/flats: 60-79 would be my preference, but since I don't own any comfortable sandals I end up wearing them when it gets hot out too.
sandals: I would love a great comfy pair for days where temps are 80+

Patience, this varies for me more by season/climate and what else I'm wearing rather than temperature.

Knee boots: Rain, anything below 65 degrees except snow, with a skirt (usually with tights) or pants
Ankle boots: Usually during cool autumn/winter weather, anything but snow.
Fashion sneakers & socks: I rarely wear this look, but usually do in milder temperatures where it's not raining but I'm still wearing long pants.
Pumps/flats: Anything above snow or heavy rain, but it really depends on the material of the shoes (fabric/canvas/silk shoes are out during any rainy weather) and what I'm pairing them with (skirts or walking shorts during warm weather, long pants or skirts with opaque/patterned tights when it's colder)
Sandals: Hot summer weather only (rare in Seattle)

Laura's thread has reminded me to do this. I'm taking a poll about the temperature ranges you feel comfortable wearing which kind of shoes. I'm sure this will be different for everyone and the ranges may overlap. So, what temperature ranges are you comfortable wearing:

knee boots
ankle boots
