Pointy toes go in and out of style, and I remember the last time pointy toes were in fashion. Toes got ridiculously long and pointy that many styles resembled witch shoes to me. I think they are both classics even though fashion may favor one over the other from time to time. I don't really worry about it too much - if my outfit needs a heel height or a color that I only have in a pointy toe style, I'll wear it even if it may not be the current fashion.
