Love #2 with comfort, washability and the speed of FFBO going for it. Plus visually the colors, patterns and proportions all work.

I work in food service, and just like health care work comfort and washability are key. The apron/jacket/coats don't always do it all.

Two great, casual outfits! I'm especially taken with the sweater in #2. It's too soon for snow! Glad it missed you.

Here's my WIWs from this Monday and Tuesday. Real life challenges: Predicted possible snow; night on ER duty; two days worth of outfits selected on Sunday night; both had to work with same footwear choice. How did I do?

Day one: I did the knit shell over shirt formula, with a wine-red shirt and black crewneck vest. I originally chose black plaid ankle pants to wear with my beloved black Clarks booties, but the morning was so cold I switched for black Ponte pants, a tad shorter but cozier. This was my first wear of my fun socks, wine and plum houndstooth, my first and only purchase from our local Target, a year after opening! I didn't know how cold it would be, or how overheated in the ER, so I added a red paisley scarf. Topped off (not shown) with my red wool princess coat (fall weight, still) and red leather driving gloves, and ubiquitous black clutch and tote.

Day two: Comfort and FFBO, for the morning after the night before: my buffalo check Joe Fresh sweater (my one and only YLF lemming purchase. So many compliments on it!) and my thrifted post -call pants: Glen check, but washable and (sssshh!) elastic waisted. Pic #2 shows you why I can afford to fuss less about fit in the seat and thighs for work bottoms-- mostly covered up anyway.

By the way, we didn't get the snow-- I saw a faint sprinkle along the highway verge-- but nearby areas had massive snowfall and power outages!
