I decided today that I was going to hang around and see if I could get a chance to just say hi and tell her thanks. It's a little tough when it's such a high profile artist (Norah Jones was very quick to get away from people after her show, so I only got the briefest hello when she played). I always try to feel out the situation and if it doesn't feel right, I don't bother. But Chrissie was sort of holding court in our "backstage" area with the GM from the station and some other people, so I lingered and listened to the conversation. Then as she was on the way out, I did see a moment to just say a quick hello and introduction, just to let her know I enjoyed the set. She admits she has some funny quirks (don't take photos unless she has&nbsp;given consent, as one of our volunteers learned, and the handshake thing), but she's not nasty about it at all. I can understand, especially the photo thing. I'm not sure why she doesn't shake hands -- I didn't ask.&nbsp;</p> <p>ETA: I just looked it up. She says in an interview she once had her knuckles crunched by a strong&nbsp;guy in a heavy metal band. "Hand are delicate things" she said. True! I can understand that. Hard to play guitar with a bent-up hand.&nbsp;</p> <p>Her voice is amazing as ever. She was one of the first female musicians to really make a big impression on me with her ability to be simultaneously kick-ass and vulnerable.&nbsp;</p> <p>Oh, and Ann, she was wearing a black "Akron" (Ohio)&nbsp;tee with very distressed, faded, skinny jeans and low-heeled boots. Total rock'n'roll!&nbsp;</p> <p>Ummlila, the jacket is dark teal. The artist today was one of my musical heroes, so you'd better believe I was going to be there. So who was it? Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders! It was a wonderful set. No pics were allowed, sadly, but we did get to hang out a little bit with her and her band members, and I got a fist bump from her (she doesn't shake hands).
