Hello, my dear ladies, thanks so much for the suggestions and recommendations. I bought some business fashion (blouses, trousers and dresses) from Talbots and Land's End and would like to buy more (woman!
:-) )

And I would also like to report some plus size fashion shops or brands, that haven't been mentioned above:

1. ASOS. plus size clothing for sizes (US) 14 to 24. Many choices of plus size casual fashion, some of which could be "casual office fashion" :-)

2.Anna Scholz: exclusive plus size fashion, elegant, expensive

3. Manon Baptiste: designer plus size fashion. I love the designs and the quality is top as well.

Thank you again for the best wishes and the information of plus size fashion!

Linda

Chiming in to agree with all of the above. I used to buy a lot more at Talbots but either my shape changed or their fit model changed and I find their fit doesn't work for me. So definitely try there and a few brands at other retailers like Nordstrom, Macy's and Penney's to see what works. I find most of my clothes at at Nordstrom (and their half yearly sale is still going on!) but I also just found a fabulous shell in the Liz Claiborne line at JCP.

Eloquii was The Limited's foray into plus size and they're closing down so right now so they're running a big sale. I have a skirt, jacket and some blouses from there I've been happy with. But I would be careful that the items are returnable unless they're just a super bargain and oh don't mind taking a risk. (They are online only.)

Welcome to YLF and congrats on the job!

I wholeheartedly second Thistle's post. I shop at Talbots religiously and find that their clothes are stylish, well made and fit really well. I particularly like them because they carry a petite plus line. I can sometimes wear a misses size and sometimes petite and sometimes petite plus. Whatever I can't find in the store I order online and find that their fit is consistent.

Another site I like is Boden. They are a British company but have a site for US customers. Great quality and trendy styles. The only thing I had to suss out was their sizing....I know what size I am in the UK and what size I am here but theirs weren't consistent for me. The first time I ordered my size in a blouse, I had to send it back because it was too big. Once I figured that out I was fine.

Hope this helps.
Mary

Thanks, Thistle, for all the recommendations. I've been on the hunt helping my mom find an outfit for my son's wedding this August. Your list will give me some new places to try.

You can also try Land's End. My Mom orders from there (online) and likes some of their shirts/blouses. I also see some dress possibilities as well.

Dresses (scroll through all the pages to see the whole selection, some are overly casual, but some are perfectly appropriate for work):

http://www.landsend.com/ix/wom......html?seq=

Shirts:

http://www.landsend.com/ix/wom......html?seq=

Again, scroll through - some blouses are casual, and some are office appropriate.

Bonus for those in the US - you can return anything from a Land's End order to a local Sears store.

Best wishes for feeling and looking fabulous at your new job!

So, I am a size 16, so right between plus sized and not plus sized. As such, here are some ideas:

Ann Taylor carries up to size 18 on their website even though they only carry up to a 12 in store. The stores will take returns of any size.

Talbots - My favorite store by far. I think 3/4 of my wardrobe is from here as their clothes fit my body so well. They carry up to a size 20 in their regular line, and a I think a 24W in their women's. Their Plus size is cut differently than their regular, and sometimes I buy the 14W just because they put hidden comfort features in their plus line that they don't put in their regular line. Worth the extra $5 to me as I am a creature of comfort! :)

Nordstrom - This is my second favorite store. They have a plus line and some designers carry up to a size 18 in their regular line. Great place to add some trendy elements.

Chicos - I have only a few pieces from here, but their quality has been excellent.

Macy's - Terrible in store selection by me, terrific on line selection. And you can get free shipping and the store will take back anything you bought on line.

Zappos - they carry a wide array, and I was able to find my Levis jeans here. Free shipping and returns as they are online only.

Amazon - they carry a wide array, and I was able to find a few dresses here. Free shipping and returns (IF you buy from Amazon as the seller. Have to be careful on this).

Land's End - They carry up to an 18 I think in regular sizes. And they have a plus size. They cater to a different body shape than mine, so I only have one piece from them that had to be altered. Can't speak to them as much.

I have not yet tried Coldwater Creek. Bloomingdales does carry plus sizes, but there is none in my area, and they don't have free shipping and returns.

One thing to note on places like Talbots, Chicos etc. They can look a bit frumpy in their ads, but they have terrific pieces and great quality. I buy basics and the occassional fun piece from them. You can get classic styles (which I like a lot) at these retailers, but I buy my trendier pieces from Nordstrom's.

Plus size stores that are too big for me, but might work for you (look at the measurements - the size 14 at Igigi was still too big for me)

Igigi - Gorgeous clothes, especially their dresses. Check them out on line and see if there are any places near you that carry their line. This store runs big.
Kiyonni - another really nice boutique. Check them out on line and see if there are any places near you that carry their line.

Not an expert but sometimes shop with my plus sized SIL. Try Nordstroms. She likes the Foxcroft no-iron button downs that fit a large bust and always look sharp. Angie includes plus sizes in her picks.
I was just looking at Nordies on line at Kut From the Kloth jeans and they are great quality with some plus sizes if you can wear denim on Fridays.
You might try Talbots, Lands End, Chicos, Coldwater Creek.
