Such helpful feedback and good ideas!

Everyone who suggested the patterned leggings with the dress: I was planning on wearing the grey-black patterned leggings with my black sweater dress (shorter, will show off more of the pattern) and possibly the grey one, but I'm not sure about the burgundy and that pattern.

Everyone who liked #5: I like that one too. I've worn that dress and jacket with black tights and muddy grey oxfords. The shoes match the jacket well enough when they're that far apart. I think.

Tweed jacket not going with the A-line skirt: That's interesting. I may have to work on styling this jacket (which I just picked up at a consignment store and haven't worn yet). I'm pretty sure it will work over the simple black sweater dress, but I'd like some other options.

Bonnie G: Thanks for the praise on the jackets! I sort of collect interesting jackets, with my rationale being that I wear them for teaching, but the truth is that I simply enjoy them.

The lacey blazer in 4: The consensus seems to be that it's too high-contrast with the sweater dress. This is another consignment store find that I may have trouble styling. Perhaps it might go better with a light grey sweater dress?

Socks and boots: I was practicing wearing socks so that I can fill in the volume when the boots are wider than my legs, but I guess I need to coordinate colors.

another vote for #5, but as others have called out, i'd either change out the socks, or actually lose them altogether. i like 9/10, but i think i'd try it with the boots from #5, (i'm thinking that the longer skirt needs more leg showing so a shorter boot would be better, but that's just my thoughts). and i love that tweed jacket, i'd love to see other ways you've styled it…(i have one that's a few years old, and seeing this I'm inspired to try styling it again)

I'm also loving #5 and 9/10 combos as I feel that they work the best. I love the skirt and that sweater dress makes me drool whenever I see it. I also agree with the others' comments re-socks. Oh, and yes, definitely wear the patterned legging with the sweater dress too.

I like all the dress outfits, except 3, where I find the jacket too high contrast for my eye. I like Jenava's idea of wearing socks that either blend in with the booties or with the leggings in each of those outfits.
I like all of the skirt outfits, too, though I would omit the red scarf, which seems distracting from the other lovely elements in the outfit.
I like your footwear choices and agree with you that oxfords with the skirt would read a bit school-girlish. Not necessarily a bad thing, but maybe not what you're going for.

Agree that #5 and #9/10 are the best combinations. I really like #5 but would change to low contrast socks. Also like the velvet jacket in #4 for a different outfit.

The grey and black patterned leggings are fun! I would let them be the star of the show but I agree with Beth Ann that they would also look great with the burgundy dress. I like #10 also. Fun experimentation with the various textures.

Great stylings. 5 and 10 leap out at me. In 5 I like the jacket better than the cream cardi--it's a bit of contrast but lower contrast; very chic.
The jacket in 10 works so well to reign in the skirt volume, and the boots work well, too.

Another shout out for #5! I would suggest a lower contrast in the sock, perhaps -- but you look terrific!

Love the look in 9/10, also. The proportions are great, and, while you have lots of texture in your prints, the simple, neutral color palette makes it work. Love those leggings!

5 is the best look with the dress. I'd change the socks, though. They need to either match the shoes, match the leggings or not show at all. I don't mind the booties with this. I think booties are what you'd want with this, to show as much of the leggings as possible.

The second outfit - really like those leggings and this skirt. However, the tweed jacket isn't the right style for this (too formal looking with such a fun skirt). I do really like the velvet jacket, though...I would skip the scarf as it makes it look a bit messier than is needed. If you'd like, try a long pendant necklace to break up with white. But, I wouldn't worry about an all-neutral outfit, nor would I be concerned about matching colors (esp. neutrals) exactly. This looks perfect just the way it is. Footwear - I think the higher, fitted shaft is nice, and a bit of a heel is good as well, if just to echo the more delicate vibe of the skirt tulle and soft jacket. I'm not sure I would change the shoes, but you could play around and see if you've got other shoes that might also work.

My favorites are 5 and 9/10. The textured jackets plus leggings in 7 is a little busy for my taste. Love the heels in the later pics but I think knee high boots would work well with the dress or the skirt outfits. I'd actually love to see the leggings and shoes from 9/10 worn with the burgundy dress from the first pics.

I tried some different combinations with my new leggings today. I'm afraid the color on the dress and the leggings doesn't come out well in the photos. I think they go well enough together (photos 1 and 2)--same color family, one lighter than the other and different textures. I tried a few different jackets (3, 4, and 5)--I'm not sure if toppers work differently with the monochrome version than they do with black tights/leggings.

And then there's the black-on-grey print leggings (detail in photo 6). I'm planning on wearing them with my black and my grey sweater dresses, but I thought they might work with this skirt and its faux-slip detail, even though it may get a little busy: 7 through 11. Too much? Multiple photos of the cropped jacket, which I decided to wear simply because it was the last thing I had on and time was running short. I'm not entirely sure about the grey-on-grey, but I thought I could get away with it because of the different textures. And then I throw on the red scarf whenever I worry that an outfit with all neutrals is looking too drab.

Edited to add: I'd also appreciate footwear comments. I simplified by just wearing what I thought was a good enough pair with each of the two sets of outfits, but I can easily see black knee-high flat boots with the plum/burgundy dress. (Or oxfords.) I felt the longer A-line skirt called for heels rather than flats. (I love my oxfords, but with that skirt I suspect they'd be too schoolgirlish.) Am I on track?
