The cleaner did indeed charge extra per pleat for pressing.<br /> I remember my mother having a lavender tulle pleated party dress. I know mine does. The fabric may determine this. Mine is a lightweight polyester chiffon with a smooth unpleated lining. I wash it on delicate in cold water or hand wash, and hang to dry. The pleats don’t go anywhere. There is a green cotton dress I still think of. Embroidered bodice, in the same teal green as the dress, and knife pleats all around. I wore it to my social dancing class in eighth grade and loved it. Then it was washed and all the pleats came out. My mother said no way was she going to iron in all those pleats and returned it to the store. Salty tears, people. I cried salty tears over that dress. </p> <p>The knife pleats skirts I do have are wool and linen dry clean only, which I do infrequently.
