Thank you all for your input. I would *totally* take it to Nordie's for the alterations, except the nearest store is 5 hours away! I'll ask my tailor if she has any experience with this or would recommend someone. I'm not afraid to pay a bit for the alterations since I got the jacket at a deep discount. (I think I paid $30!)

My tailor shortened the sleeves on my pleather Target moto last year - they even had zippers at the cuffs and he was still able to do it. It cost $40, but I think it was slightly more expensive because of the zippers than it would have been without them.

Here they are done by tailor, not every tailor does that, but there are specialized ones!

I have only ever had pleather boots altered, and I took them to a cobbler, as I would have leather boots. He had to remove a zipper and add some fabric, then reattach the zipper, so he definitely had to work with the pleather, and he did a great job. For a jacket, I would go to a tailor.

I have nothing to offer about pleather alterations, I just want to say that the jacket is wonderfully interesting! I can see why you are drawn to it.

I had the sleeves on a couple of pleather jackets altered over the summer. I took the jackets to a tailor and she did a lovely job. I think I paid around $25 or $30. Nordstrom should be able to tailor it--when I spoke to their tailor, she said they treat pleather like leather in terms of cost.

Totally possible but it can be a bit pricey. We do pleather sleeve alterations at Nordies all the time. It will probably cost around $20 or so.

I have wondered about this too Becky. I think the only potential problem is that pleather is usually just a coating, so I am not sure how it could be cut without exposing the interior if that makes sense.

Wouldn't hurt to ask though.

Does anyone have experience with alterations to pleather items? Are they done by a cobbler, like leather items? Or could they be done by a tailor? Is it worth a try? I ordered this jacket ( http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/31.....lorsNViews ) and love the look and fit, but (of course) the sleeves need shortened. I would really like to make it work if possible, but am not sure how to proceed.
