I honestly feel it is the minority who wear a PFD. And this summer I saw a parent who placed her young baby in a car seat, on her lap while in a motor boat. Neither had a PFD. All kids here are taught to wear a PFD because the water is so dangerous. We accidentally flipped our canoe in a glacial lake two years ago and truly only lived because of our life vests. We went to the main boat launch where the helicopter had landed, and talked to one of the crew. Apparently a man fell off his fishing boat about 1000 feet from shore. There were two helicopters, sheriff's boat, diving team, ambulance, fire truck, and who knows what else, just trying to find him. As of this morning they still haven't found him. </p>
