I undid the hem and pressed out the cuff to get a knee length. These work on my 70 year old rectangular body with apple tendencies because they are midrise and have some spandex (1%). The fabric is a light weight cotton/poly blend (76% cotton/23% poly). Here are photos of me wearing them after modifications. I generally prefer dark colors, wear them a lot in the heat of summer as a casual look, usually with a T and flat sandals or sneakers. I don't "dress them up" much although I'd like to try that this year. </p> <p>I'm petite, a curvy pear with fairly big thighs. Like pants, I usually find that regular sizes fit better than petites because I also have a fairly big derriere, but I do need a moderate to slightly low rise. I generally go with classic bermudas. I find the 8 or 9" length is best. It hits just above my knee so it covers most of my thigh but leaves enough knee showing so that there is the illusion of a bit of length to my legs. I have also learned that there HAS TO BE a bit of a taper to the legs, slimmer at the knee than the thigh, for 2 reasons. 1) if they don't taper, they ride up on the inseam when I walk and 2) if they don't taper just the right amount they make me look wider. I thought I wouldn't like the rolled cuff and that I might alter it to a plain hem, but I like the roll after all. I usually prefer the Julie cut at Loft, and these are not classified by cut, but supposedly are closer to the Marisa. Still, they do work for me, and I took my usual Loft size. <br />The <b>Jag Ainsley</b> shorts (photos 2-3) are a little odd, as a pull-on short. It's hard to understand how they fit closely, and yet have no zipper. like these for wearing a longer top over, since they are nice and smooth with no fly front. So they fill a niche. I bought mine last year.<br />The <b>Kut from the Kloth Natalie</b> shorts are a good jeans fit on me. I'd say they are good for moderately curvy&nbsp; or somewhat straight figures. They are a fairly low rise, compared to the more common high rises these days, and the waist is a little bit roomy, but I wear them with a belt, and I really like the look of them, especially the back pockets, which I think look kind of cool.
