Thank you, Angie. That seals the deal. If you thought the Timberland boots looked bad I know you would tell me.

I can't wait to wear the Lucky Brand with my white BFs (to shamelessly copy your fab outfit). It's still in the 90s here, though, so I'll have to wait a bit longer.

Thank you, Ironkurtin. You make a very good point. I think I'll keep both. Except for Neel, no one is concerned about the flowerpot effect, so maybe it's not that bad.

I think these boots serve different functions. I don't believe the Timberlands are meant to be worn with skirts, for example. If you like them both, I believe you'd be reaching for them for different reasons so it wouldn't necessarily be a duplication.

Thank you, Dianthus. My life is very casual, and I do like the idea of hop in and go boots, which the Timberland would be.

Suz, I think you've described how the Timberland boot might be used. I think when I ordered them I thought they were waterproof, and was disappointed to realize they weren't, but we have many more days when it's dry than when it's snowy - this is a desert, after all.

Thank you, Shevia. It turns out they're not waterproof, but the sole seems more secure if it's icy.

Thank you, Thistle. I think the Timberland is more comfortable. I was worried about the flowerpot effect, but maybe it's not that bad? I do think my feet look better in the Lucky Brand. They don't look as clunky, or as long. We ladies with big feet are always conscious of that!

I like both pairs. For me, they would both serve a similar function.

Are you primarily planning to wear them with trousers? If so, I think either would work as the shaft will be tucked under the pants. However, for more versatility, the first pair would be slightly better.

In my world, as they really are so close, the more comfortable pair would win. My fussy feet have a great deal of say in footwear.

I prefer #1 on your foot, but if the Timberland is more weather proof it will be useful for reasons like Suz listed.

They are both casual booties but #1 is less casual than #2. #1 is "smart casual" (or has smart casual potential) and #2 is just plain casual.

I would liken these to my Stuart Weitzman chelsea boots vs. my Blundstones (before my daughter absconded with them they were mine, that is...now, alas, not.)

The first pair looks really nice on you and will go with jeans and pants. Maybe skirts if you want to and style them well.

The second pair is a gad-around boot for poor weather and super casual days. A dog-walking boot (maybe), a walk in the park boot, a pull it on fast and get out the door boot for errands, a visit somebody's farm boot. I always need something like this in my life.

I think they are quite different in terms of the level of casual with #2 being quite casual. If you have need for that type of boot for weekends/errands etc, and they are comfortable, I would probably keep them. I always need something to fill that hole but it is cold and snowy here for months.

I think the first pair looks really nice on you and like Neel, agree that they could be worn with almost anything. Nice color and sleek style.

Thank you, Neel. Yes, stompy. Very good description. I loved Angie's recent outfit, and I have those same white BFs. I just can't wear any boots until it cools down a bit!

I vote for #1. It looks lovely on your feet and is a winner by miles to me! #2 is OK and I find it a bit stompy and then there is the flower pot issue.

I would wear #1 with everything. Skinnies, BFs rolled (like Angie's recent WIW) and flares too

I bought two pairs of booties, Lucky Brand Basel Booties in Toffee, and Timberland Savin Hill Chelsea Boots in Cognac. I went to Dillards to try the Sam Edelman Petty that I love so much. They showed a Cognac version on their website.

Alas, not only did our local Dillards not have the Cognac version in stock, but the taupe ones they had did not fit very well. I was very disappointed. However they had a similar bootie, the Lucky Brand Basel. It felt better.

Later I found a Chelsea style boot on Sierra Trading Post's website, Timberland Savin Hill Chelsea boot. I got them today. They feel good, but they might have the flowerpot syndrome. Do you think they look too bad?

So my questions:

1) Are these booties too similar in function? Both are short, and are a similar color. The Lucky Brand seems a little dressier, though.

2) Does the Timberland look okay on my foot and leg or does it look like a flowerpot? Sorry for the low quality picture. My mirror doesn't have good lighting.

3) How should these booties be styled? What kind of pants should I wear with them?

4) Do you think I should keep both of them? If not, which should I keep?
