Ooh, awesome! Thank you cciele! I'm so stoked to try out these colors now! I've never even touched half of them because I thought I couldn't wear cool. Yay! Now if only I wasn't part of the May shopping ban...

Sounds like you are on the right path, Oneirix! Oh, here is another palette for you to consider (that of deep winter instead of clear winter):
http://www.thechicfashionista......winter.png

It eliminates some of the paler colors, which I think can make you look washed out, and incorporates a few warmer colors (rust, aubergine, teal, etc).

Hanna, thank you so much for the advice! Funnily enough, I actually don't quite care for those colors anyway, but layering sounds interesting...but as Angie says, one step at a time.

Angie, that's so interesting! Whenever I get color matched at a makeup counter or Sephora I'm always immediately given warm foundation, so to hear I have cool undertones is new to me, but it's so exciting! I was all prepared to start up a new thread and ask what to do if you like colors that don't look good on you and dislike colors that do, but now I have the confidence to try out what I love. But yes, one step at a time indeed! This experience has unlocked a whole new wardrobe path for me. Thank you very, very much!

Shiny, thanks for the kind words! :3 My mom and I have had similar experiences; she's tried my foundation and she looks yellow! It's so strange to me how different our skin can be.

Thank you again for all of your help everyone. I feel much more confident with colors now! I feel like this is a fun exercise; I wonder if other people will do it too? (taking the shirts on and off is tiring though, and then folding them afterward...yech! )

My friend Jane has a peaches-and-cream complexion and one day she borrowed my foundation, which happened to have cool undertones (I wear foundation which is either cool, or neutral). It looked like she'd rubbed calamine lotion all over her face!! We are both very fair but there is a huge difference in our undertones.

Oneirix, I love your beauty spots and your haircut is fantastic too.

But you just hit the nail on the head, Oneirix! People with sallow skin (like Tanya, Marianne and HannahC), or yellow and blue undertones such as Shiny and yourself, look great in COOL colours. It’s so easy! I have PINK skin – what used to be referred to as “peaches and cream” – have you heard of that expression before? I look good in the opposite. Ana and I have a similar skin tone and that’s why she rocks warm colours too (colours with yellow in them).

You can absolutely wear vibrant, saturated colours. As long as you wear the right shade. Go for a BLUE based fushia. I have to go for the opposite – a YELLOW based fushia as you can see from the picture on this post.

http://youlookfab.com/2009/03/.....oral-belt/

You’ll look good in a more PURPLE cobalt which is almost the colour of my frock below. But it’s got some yellow in it which I bring out by adding a very sour green and yellow itself:

http://youlookfab.com/2009/05/.....nic-dress/

Cciele, you are dead right. The colour palette that you love Oneirix is pretty spot on too. There are however warm colours there as well (like the citron and tomato red), which you *can* wear if you MIX them with cool tones. That gets a little more complicated, but totally doable. One step at a time.

Don't remove those beauty spots! You’ll scar your pretty skin and take away your unique edge :0)

oneirix, you are too cute! i love you in strong, saturated colors - the bright green, navy, red, purple. the lighter colors wash you out. i actually think you would look lovely in bright white, although i will defer to more expert opinions on this one! of the colors you love, the only ones i am not sure about are the paler blues in the top row - unless you wear them with stronger, more flattering colors for you, i.e a pale blue top beneath a stronger blue cardigan. does that make sense?

Angie, that's really interesting, because I DEFINITELY have yellow undertones, which I was under the assumption meant I was warm? With makeup I can't wear blue-based pinks on my lips, but I wonder if that's just because my flesh tone changes the color or what...I've always shied away from cool toned colors because I was told I was warm, but that actually works out great because I'm in love with winter palette colors. When you say "dusky" though, can I still wear clear colors, like cobalt and fuchsia? I like very vibrant, "pop" colors very much.

And thank you for the compliments; sometimes I'm self-conscious about my beauty marks because I have so many, and I have friends that get them surgically removed all the time so I feel like I ought to have a "cleaner" face, but your kind words remind me that they make me unique. Thanks!

Tarzy, it's great to hear that I look better in stronger colors, since I prefer those to muted ones. But can I wear pure white? I have an absolute love affair with it, and my mom says I look great in it...maybe it was because I was more tan then. Do you think it would be okay?

Cciele, that's awesome! I've been trying to come to terms with being an Autumn for so long when I've always loved the Deep Winter palette.

So you guys are sure I'm cool? I'm pretty glad to hear it since almost all of the colors I love are cool, but I've been told my entire life I'm warm, so it's pretty interesting to hear this! Also, is there a celebrity by any chance whose coloring reminds you of mine? It's hard for me to look at myself objectively, so it would help me to better understand, if you happen to think of anyone! Thank you so much for your help everyone!

I agree -- I like you in the stronger colors, especially the purple and navy. I like the coral too. If I had to label you, I would say Deep Winter. But like Angie says, don't get caught up in the definition and instead go with your flop-proof colors.

You look amazing in the stronger, deeper colors like the green and the purple and the navy! I would agree that the lighter colors seem to wash you out. (Are you feeling less confused?)

Oneirix! You are so cute. I love your beauty spots. They are unique and lovely. Thanks for the effort of posting pics in different tops. A magnanimous effort.

It’s really very easy. You look GREAT in cool, blue-based colours (colours with blue in them). So, actually the opposite to me. You’re looking at alkali tones, while I sport the acidic variety. From the pictures, you look amazing in purple, pink, light blue, forest green, cherry, navy and black. Think dusky jewel tones (like teal too). Choose a blue based red instead of a yellow based one. These are the colours that are flop proof against your complexion. This is a VERY good place to start.

Sometimes, it’s confusing to get caught up in all sorts of intricate colour palette definitions and reasoning. Stick to cool colours and you’ll be fine (which can be red, orange and yellow too – just the right shade of these particular colours). Once you have this under your belt, we’ll incorporate how to mix in a bit of warm with the cold and add a little texture for variety. I like to keep things simple. Hope that makes sense!

Here is a link to an album with random pictures of me and different colored tops. I tried to get the lighting as true and uniform as possible, although unfortunately some of them came off a little warmer/cooler than others. There are 21 pictures in total, but they're all displayed in thumbnail format, so it should be easy to scan through them.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/3.....118186877/

Please let me know if individual links would be more helpful! I can easily do that as well. These are all the colors I own...and some of them I'm getting rid of! :P

Thank you so much for your help!
