A lot of the fabric choice depends on the type of dress you want. What kind of dress are you after? Maybe post a pic of the pattern or sketch.

I'm not sure yet whether ill be using chiffon or a different lightweight fabric. Chiffon is easy to recognize, and it almost always looks great and drapes beautifully no matter how cheaply fabricated it is, so its a no brainer. Other types of fabrics
will probably be much trickier, so I thought I would name some brands that are known for using specific flattering fabrics that I like. I was hoping some of you have the expertise to use that info to tell me exactly what to look for.For example, the fabric used for Sweet Pea tops is awesome and I have no idea what makes it so magical. Just reading the tag doesn't tell me enough, but maybe some of you know what makes it so special. The fabric used for almost all Ralph lauren dresses is also gorgeous. I think its some kind of jersey, but I've tried on plenty of jersey dresses that just don't look the same. A fourth fabric option is a kind of fine mesh fabric I've mostly only seen used on dancewear. It's kind of a sporty looking gauze or fine mesh, if that makes any sense. If I do choose chiffon, how should I line it, and should I think about lining dresses made of other kinds of materal too? It might sound like I know exactly what I want in a fabric, but trust me, I'm super confused! How do I avoid pitfalls at the fabric store? Have any other fabric store related advice?
PS. If the formatting of this post is a little weird, its because I posted thid from my stupid blackberry >_< Sorry
