I just went through this so I have some opinions! I purchased these expensive-for-me Acne booties in a completely impractical color. The first day, I didn't have time to treat the boots and I got scuff marks on the inside heel areas (on both feet!). I tried the Magic Erase. No avail, although this product has been great for the white wall portion of slip on sneakers. Then I tried a Q-tip with nail polish remover. BIG FAIL. The nail polish remover actually removed some of the suede. But did nothing for the spots. Fortunately they're not huge scuffs and again they're on the inside so not too visible.

Since I was on short vacation I didn't wear the boots again after that first destructive day (a long car trip, although I did none of the driving). When I got home I finally applied a Woly Wet Blocker which is similar to what KiwiGal/Sally recommended to me on another thread. I was nervous that it would darken the suede but it has not left any residual traces. Plus, I have worn the boots again and this time, no scuff marks (I'm really hard on shoes). I've applied the spray twice more, and even dropped something dirty on the shoes with no incidence.

Actually the product Sally recommended was this Woly 3x3 Shoe/Boot Protector, which was out of stock but now back in stock but selling fast. There were 12 in stock when I last looked, now there are 6 (I'm buying it after I submit this reply!). I also purchased this Woly suede brush. These are pricey shoe care products but I think worth it.

Waterproof spray! Follow the directions and repeat as needed. Also, watch the weather report and try to avoid wearing them in pouring rain.

I recommend Kelly's Water Protector spray to everyone. A local city cobbler sold it to me and I've since used it on all of my leather and suede shoes, including light pink suede tall boots that showed stains from a previous waterproofing spray.

I used to have a pair of bone colored suede boots a few years ago and I used a Mr Clean Magic Eraser to clean them. I used it dry (you can also just dampen it lightly) and very gently went over the dirty spots. They always looked new afterwards.

Initially I tested it inside the boot to make sure it would not destroy the suede, but it did not. You could also go to a shoe repair shop and they may be able to waterproof them for you so that the leather is protected and won't get water spots.

I treat mine with weather/waterproof spray. That has always helped keep them clean, and protects against rain and water. I did the same for my knee high suede riding boots and they held up great! So, I'd recommend a protective spray for sure. Other than that, just be careful and you should be fine.

Just got my first pair of suede booties in light beige (called taupe but its really pretty light)...how can I keep these clean?? I thought they were smooth leather but they have just arrived and are suede. Clearly I missed the very small print description that included the word "suede"--I was blinded my desire to bookend my light hair color and just ordered them when they went on sale. Still deciding if I should keep or if they will look bad too quickly.
Any advice would be appreciated as this is my first pair of suede shoes since I was a teenager...a VERY long time ago! TIA
