Try polishing the shoes with dark brown polish to darken the color just a bit.

Love 1/2. I like olive with purple better than olive with red so I like the combination in 3 but I would prefer if the top had a more structured neckline like the red top. I think the neckline of the red top looks better with the cardigan. I vote pass on the red top. Love your bag and your shoes.

I love the striped shirt outfit both with and without the sweater. The red purse is BEAUTIFUL and I much prefer it to a brown one with this outfit. I conceptually like the magenta and olive combo and suspect it looks better in real life than the photo. The other shirt is ok but maybe not worth struggling with.

My favorite is 2, and I don’t think you need a brown purse at all! The neutrals of denim, stripes and the brown accents, fab by the way, really look great with the olive sweater AND the red purse. From my point of view, there is nothing at all to improve.

i like the red top in 5 better than the purple in 3, combined with olive, but agree about the fit of the red top doesn’t sound ideal. One suggestion if you want to tackle alterations would be to carefully cut off at the seam line where the fabric changes, cut off more of the upper part to remove enough inches, then sew the bottom part back on. To make it fit together (if the side seam goes outward in the removed part and the top-edge-of-the-bottom-part has a bigger circumference), just take a small pleat in the lower part at the center back

I like the bookend outfit with the pop of color from the red bag in outfit 2. Lovely bookending here. For outfit 3 I ironically just tried purple and green this week and only felt meh about it. I think pink would work better with green than purple. Or maybe it's just a matter of finding the right shade of purple to make it work? For outfit 4 and 5, I don't care for the fit here compared to the outfit in 2 and vote pass on the top. It doesn't seem to fit your styling needs. Thanks for sharing your outfits!

Angie, thanks for the feedback!! Sadly the semi-tuck does not work for the top in #4 and 5-- it's too long in back and the fabric is far too clingy over my bottom.

Your BELT is a great match with your hair, actually, JennyH! And your brown shoes are fably tonal. Hair-shoes-belt work well together.

Have you tried semi-tucking and blousonning the red top in #4 and #5? If that doesn't work - pass on.

I like #2 best too! Nice that you settled on that one, and can peel off the layers as needed :)

Star: It's not the tummy where the clinging is problematic, it's the bottom. (I think it might appear the stomach clings in the photos, but that's the seam, not my belly.) Sadly, it is not a comfy enough top for sleepwear.

Thanks for the feedback on colors.

I like the colour scheme of pic 4. I prefer the true red with the olive over the berry red and olive of pic 3. I think it may be about cool and warm shades interacting with each other IYKWIM. I get you about tops that cling in the tummy area, it usually is the material composition. I keep those for sleeping in if they are comfy enough. Otherwise I think the brown shoes and belt do work well with your hair colour.

I only own one pair of brown shoes, and they aren't perfect bookends for my hair because they have a lighter color, but I decided to play with them anyway. I'm struggling a bit with the outfits.

In most of the outfits, I'm wearing my new NAS jeans, brown shoes, belt, sunglasses and brown jewelry (which is subtle). In most of the photos I'm also wearing a red purse because I don't own a brown one at the moment.

It's cool this morning, so for part of the day I should be able to wear this olive green sweater, seen in some of the photos-- but I will need to take it off once it gets warmer.

Photos 1 & 2: Striped Breton shirt, with and without the sweater. This is the look I have settled on, but I think it could be better-- I'm just not sure how.

Photo 3: With a magenta(?), berry (?) top, I'm not sure if I like the color with the olive. Thoughts?

Photos 4 & 5: I think I may end up getting rid of this top. It has a funny seam all along the front, including a couple inches above the belt-- the fabric changes types at the seam-- the area around the split neck is a woven fabric, but the rest of the top is a stretchy knit. I think it is really intended to be worn untucked. However, I am short waisted and the back of the top extends to mid-thigh on me. I don't like the way it looks untucked with any of the bottoms I have tried (since that part is knit, it clings in a way I don't like). Any ideas how I could improve the top, or should I pass it along?
