#1 is my favorite --- love the arty way they wrap the foot -- followed by #2. #3 is my least favorite, but I do like them. You have amazing shoes!

We may not be in a platform dominant moment, but I think it's great to have fab versions of different silhouettes to play with. Sometimes a more dainty heel is what is needed -- other times a clompy platform!

Janet, I'm surprised I didn't notice those. Lucky is a favorite brand of mine and those look like a real possibility if the Nilundas don't work out. Thanks for pointing them out.

Jill, as an alternative to the Maddens with a little less heel height, you may want to check out these Luckys. I find them very comfortable. The color is a little different but they have a similar vibe.

Jill - I like the angle and they don't hurt my forefoot as heels do. It was simply that I need a little more bend in my shoe. I should say, I've learned that I actually prefer a clunky shoe on my foot. Maybe so it doesn't seem I'll topple over

delurked--interesting. I'm glad you thought they look cute (I was feeling like they might be looking kind of clunky)--sorry you couldn't wear them. I really find them to be one of the most comfortable options that I own since the incline is so minimal (they're almost like "flatforms" -- isn't that a term? )--but everyone's feet are different. I did order a couple things to try for the summer-- a pair of peep toe booties and Steve Madden Nilunda sandals. The Nilunda sandals seem relatively comfortable although the incline is quite steep (for me anyway). Need to wear them around the house a bit more to decide. I don't have the booties yet. Looking for some lighter colored options for summer. Will probably keep one pair based on comfort.

Jill - the born Maldives are ones I'm about to pass on. Although they fit well and look cute, I've been finding them too hard when I step, and I have to walk too carefully so I don't turn my ankle. I do like the way they make my legs look though.

I was wondering the same thing about platform wedges but I have several pair of Born Du Jour sandals that I'm going to wear anyway because they fit me perfectly and are so comfortable. This is the problem with buying multiples of something you love. I have them in black and bone also. Actually one pair may have been Born Maldives but they're all very similar. They're still being sold in stores but they are starting to look less current. Actually, Janet I think all of yours look more current than mine. :)

gold Lucky's look great on your feet, the whole criss-cross pattern and the simplicity of the design works well. you could wear those with cropped jeans or regular jeans, dresses/skirts. adds an edgy touch to certain outfits. I try to avoid brown shoes, that's just me. that band at the top of #1 shoe looks confining and doesn't show off your great legs as well as the gold ones. are those comfortable? acid test for me.

Janet, I'm having the same problem with my wedges so I'm not sure you should give my feedback much weight. I'm seeing wedge styles similar to yours at retail so they don't seem dated to me. I'm finding that I still like my wedges until I put them on and they just seem wrong. I forced myself to wear a pair to the salon the other day and my stylist complimented me on my shoes, even asked me where she could get them so I'm even more confused. But I always struggle dressing in spring/early summer because I have difficulty with the transition to warm weather clothing, so maybe my brain just hasn't adjusted yet? But if my wedges are dated then I need a new pair with similar height, and comfort, because I have boot/flare jeans hemmed for them.

I like the first pair the best. I have decided to let go of my platform wedge heels as like you, I don't find them particularly comfortable and have now got other summer sandals that I much prefer. So for me, it is time to say goodbye with no regrets.

They strike me as a Peg Bundy shoe (which probably dates me just by describing it that way). I would say that the first pair are definitely most your style, or just most fashion forward in general. I also don't mind the last pair, but I am not as fond of them as I am of the first.

Janet, I'm not the best judge when it comes to footwear, but agree with others who've said the pair in pics 3 - 4 look most current. I'm still seeing cork wedges in stores, and of course metallic. I think the high band on the first pair could work with crops if you wanted to keep this pair, and the horizontal straps still look current to me. But the last pair do seem a bit more dated.

More than any other item, I worry about my footwear looking dated. Partly because I spend more on shoes for comfort and, once a pair is broken in, I'm more likely to hold onto them. I definitely need to join you here and put some of my footwear to the forum test! I also agree on the comfort of solid platforms. I wore a pair walking around DC last Sat and my shins ached like crazy the next day.

I think platforms without some kind of ankle strap are not super-current. I keep seeing platforms around too, but like Laura I agree that the wood ones or espadrilles seem the most cutting edge.

I'm dying for the donut heel wooden wedges or clogs to come back around.

Huh, I'm a bit of a contrarian here apparently. I saw the Lucky Brand ones, in various colors, on every woman everywhere so much two or three summers ago that to my eye they now look a bit dated, although the rose gold metallic does spice them up a bit. Maybe that trend was a California thing or something. It's not like cork wedges are ever really dated for summer, but I wouldn't call them on the bleeding edge. I'm seeing a lot more proper espadrilles, especially with ankle straps, and wedges with wood look bottoms like clogs.

The first pair seems the most in tune with your style.

I like 1 a lot. I think the metallic mule wedges are flattering and useful - always good to have footwear that is easy to take off for some houses or even for shopping. I lie them too. I would pass on the last pair.

I think you create a good part of your style from very current footwear so I can see why keeping them fresh is important. I have one pair of summer wedges and I wore them less this summer. But I am quite fond of them so still pull them out for some occasions.

Beth, that could be it. And the daintier ones tend to read more "dressy" which is not what I need.

I was leaning toward keeping the first and second pairs and letting go of the third. The first ones work well with cropped pants, and I do like the second ones with one dress in particular. I figure if I can't even remember when I last wore that third pair, I can probably safely let them go.

I also agree with Angie. The style and metallic color makes #3 feel current.

Im still seeing a lot of wedges in stores in our area but they seem to be a bit daintier. Could that be what you're feeling?
