Great color, Carla!

And a good question. I panic-unpacked my sandals the other day when the temps reached 80 and I decided to get my first pedicure since September. Yikes! So I did a loose inventory of that category. And I shoved some of my most wintry boots in those storage boxes without thinking too deeply about whether I want to keep all of them for next winter. That will be a project then.

Spring doesn’t last long here, and it gets hot and humid before you know it, so I’ve learned not to invest too heavily in anything that won’t be useful in summer or fall. I have plenty, although some pieces are feeling a bit old to me. I took a couple of tops out of the wardrobe and added them to the giveaway bag. They’re all pre-2020 items so I feel I got my use out of them.

I did some shopping in March after not doing any in Jan-Feb. Some of these items are definitely more spring than summer, but wearable again in the fall, so I’m good with them. I am already wearing my new platinum Adidas a lot!

I have kept an eye out for a pair of sandals to boost my summer outfits and add some current edge, but nothing has jumped out at me yet. I’m not sure exactly what I’m looking for. Blue might be nice, or a new metallic, or maybe even white. I’m set for black. But if I don’t find anything, I’m not lacking for stuff to put on my feet. ;-)

I have also been pondering a more summery bag. I’ve been enjoying my two new bags, and giving my trusty old Bao Bao a break. I break out my old silver Milly leather tote this time of year as it always feels more summery to me, but it’s now 10 years old. It still looks ok but there’s some wear around the edges, and sometimes I think an update would be nice. Not critical though. I’m minding a bit of patina less and less these days, as long as an item doesn’t look ratty.

I’m in good shape for pants. Jeans season will end for me before long, and I have some linen and linen-like wide leg pants. I also bought those tie-side navy pants at Anthro recently. I also have some skirts waiting to come back out to play with graphic tees and the like.

I culled a lot of my old shorts at the end of last season. I have two pairs of athletic shorts, and only five other pair, two of which are “around the house” wear only. I would like to find a new pair of longer straight Bermuda-ish shorts since my absolute favorite grey ones are getting frayed at the edges. And I wouldn’t mind an updated pair of denim shorts since I gave all those old ones away too. But shorts shopping is not my favorite. I may order a couple of pairs if I see something interesting, while longer inseams are supposedly trending.

You know, I never put any clothes in storage, and my closet holds them all. It is also likely that any day of the year, I may need a sweater, or a breezy skirt, so I keep it all available.

That being said-- I just added a couple shirts to my s/s wardrobe--pure linen. I am in my "hot and hormonal" years, and bad fabric will give me a tantrum. If I could do any spring/summer wardrobe, I would do all linen popover dresses, with slip-on shoes.

What can I say. At least I have decent jeans and khakis now, and a nice pair of black trousers that fit.

I hope I can do some shopping in person fairly soon. It seems like that's what it will take to get my wardrobe sorted.

I'll probably end up going to the Chicago area again. Not entirely looking forward to it. Being mid-size and old enough to have watched the moon landing on TV, this sort of trip requires calm, focus, projecting the right image and keeping my sense of humor - even if the only thing they have in my size is a t-shirt that says DOG MOM on the front.

Cookie - I hope the LL Bean tees work for you. I adore how soft their Pima cotton is, and it has a nice weight to it too. Not flimsy or see through. I’m also delighted they make a scoop neck which is my favorite tee shirt neckline but so very hard to find,

My summer wardrobe is basically t-shirts and shorts, so I don't need much of anything new. I would like another pair of these Vionic sandals (I have the gold ones), and I have been thinking about a pair of very graphic black and white sneakers for running around. I had a pair of Clarks that were similar a few years ago and I ran them into the ground.

And Heaven help me, I love these crazy Boden clogs. Maybe if they go on sale!

Thanks for the reassurance, LJP! Those platform sneakers are not what I usually wear, although Ron White shoes are narrower (good for my narrow feet), and these are WATERPROOF! So I hope they are comfy, lightweight and polished. The heels look VERY high. We'll see!

I probably don’t NEED anything even though almost all of my newer clothes have been acquired via random serendipity aka thrifting, rather than planning. I do find spring difficult to dress for because of that gap when it’s too warm for tights and too cool for bare legs. But that’s not going to be solved. It’s still mostly chilly here.

I have a short trip to the Dominican Republic coming up that could be a packing challenge, and another trip to Atlanta for a work thing, and possibly a wedding in Utah in June. But surely I already have things I can use for all this … maybe I need some Sporty Adventure Clothes for Utah (once the wedding is over).

Lisa! I wouldn’t have guessed LL Bean was making T-shirts with such a nice scoop neck and they are named after one of my most favorite vacation spots. I need to check them out.

I LOVE Spring (and some Summer) shopping! MY FAVE!!! Although, I wear Spring items in Summer. I like to be covered, and don't wear shorts and sleeveless things. I feel quite set for HIGH SUMMER. I don't think I want more dresses and skirts - unless I find something I cannot resist! Summer shoes are done too.

I've done a lot of Spring shopping! Replaced and am busy replacing lots of ESSENTIALS. Have items on the way, and will be shopping lots with Fabbers in April!

I’ve been on a bit of a buying spree for a few months and I feel myself slowing down - I’m almost all set! I desperately need more hot weather items- our summers last forever and I get so bored wearing the same few pairs of linen pants or whatever. Recently I’ve added spicy red linen wide legs from Gap - a new color for me - and a couple boxy 100% cotton gauze tops from ON (one black, one white). Oh, and a pair of Adidas Tokyo Janes in cream with red! Also a new color experiment - I don’t often go for light colored shoes. I’m looking for a couple more shoes for spring/summer, maybe a dark red Mary Jane flat and a comfy metallic sandal. I’ll probably check Dillards for those.

I don’t *need* much of anything, but that has never stopped me from buying :-)

I updated some non-denim pants recently, because I never reach for denim once the humidity and heat sets in—even white denim. And I am ordering (and returning) sandals as usual. They are always so difficult for me.

Truly, summer seems so short here in the Northeast, even when it’s not. I just get tired of spring and summer clothing quickly. Not my favorite seasons, clothing-wise at least.

Great topic.
This spring, my priority is updating my denim selection. I only have a handful of jeans, which is ok by me, but I felt like I needed a pair or two in an updated silhouette.
After carefully studying Angie's denim guide for spring, I decided to acquire a pair of barrel jeans and a pair of true wide-leg jeans. I ordered several pairs to try, and am still trying to decide. I might just ask the forum's opinion.
I also needed a color refresh. I bought a lilac button-down and already wore it several times. I also got a summer knit in the same color and they are an unintended but perfect match. I might just order the top in a size up, though.
I also have three light sweaters that I bought in deep winter, but should be perfect for the current weather.
My plan is to play around a bit in my closet to create outfits - hopefully this weekend.

I haven't at all looked at the summer wardrobe. I suspect I will need a a few linen tops. Our springs are really nice but short, whereas our summers are hot and long. I don't need to get an early start, I will have plenty of time to be miserable :)

Love that green! Hope you find some!

I am not a huge early planner unless it is for a trip or event. When I can start wearing my cooler clothes I will get more of an idea where the wardrobe holes are. I probably don't need much but that doesn't mean I won't want anything!

I did buy some new sandals that I am happy with - at least around the house. I don't think I got any last year and I love sandals. These have a slight heel so I don't know yet if that will limit their use for me, but I am sure I will wear them enough.

I too hope you find some of that green - it's such a great colour for you.

I've got a couple of pair of jeans on order - trying to get that slouchy straight leg vintage Levi's look without the vintage Levi's price. I also picked up a pair of wide leg denim culotte/long shorts which I haven't tried on yet, and have a pair of brown sandals on their way to me which I am really excited about!

I also ordered two pair of athletic shorts which came yesterday - those are tough to find ! Everything has such a short inseam and I want at least a 7" one.

Anything else will be in the outdoor activity and leisure category - I honestly need very little at all this year. I did unpack my summer shoes though and felt a large degree of boredom looking at the same sandals /shoes I've had for years - they never wear out! It's all feeling tired to me, but I think I'll push through another year .

I’m pretty well set for high summer, it’s the before and after that always gets me. Will it be a warm spring or a cool one? Anyway, I feel like my footwear is in great shape, but excited to pull out some old favorites _see the 1st finds. Yay for the tap shoe coming back! For tops, at the end of last season I added more wovens, which for me I hadn’t really been as drawn to in a long time, but I’m excited to wear them, I think what brought me back to theses wovens is that they aren’t meant to be a starched button down, so much more wash and go, which is where I’m at these days.

Carla, you look beautiful in that green colour, I hope you find some Spring and Summer wardrobe additions in your favourite colours.

My wardrobe additions are responsive to what is available at retail and whilst I said my colour for 2026 was sapphire blue, that did not eventuate for FW2026. I do not buy items online. I prefer to support local businesses that keep my local area a fun and vibrant place to live. My additions have been burgundy and leopard, teal and pink, colours and patterns that I love and mix into my wardrobe seamlessly.

I've done my FW2026 update and feel well covered for the season ahead. The guidelines I had for FY2026 were:

no more sneakers, no heels and footwear to be lightweight and comfy. I was very excited to get leopard loafers and have put them to work.

No more jeans or denim skirts, wear what I have.

No more knitwear, wear what I have.

The only jacket permitted was a faux fur - that place got taken by the pink jacket. I was looking for a faux fur leopard jacket but changed into having leopard loafers instead.

I'm not a planner by nature and anyway it's still cold here (at least for my taste) therefore I'm not thinking about Spring/Summer yet. I like your idea of adding brights to your wardrobe. And of course I am curious to see which sandals you will get. Big sandal lover here!

I purchased a new white cotton eyelet button down. Maybe a white cotton tee. Also the new bright new red in stores here is very appealing so maybe a red tee too. This will fit in with my idea of predominantly white/black/red/camel/denim for Spring/Summer. That said I am swaying towards wearing shirts rather than tees, more flattering on me and add some polish, so I'll see

The addition of greens will be lovely for your wardrobe.

I’ve picked up quite a few pieces already for spring. A favorite new item is a butter yellow short sleeve sweater from Ann Taylor I’ve already worn a few times. I also recently purchased a soft pink Ralph Lauren linen button up shirt for summer. I have long sleeve linen button up shirts I wore last year and wanted to give a short sleeve option a try. No sleeves to roll up!

I’ve lost enough weight I just replaced almost all my jeans (only 1 pair of cropped skinnies in cantaloupe color still fit probably because they have a lot of stretch). I was trying to hold off until the fall but Lucky Brand had a nice online sale so I decided to do it now instead.

Right now I’m starting to sort through my shorts and see what still fits. However, unlike the jeans I own a LOT of shorts so I’m taking this as an opportunity to reduce the total number of shorts I own (no one in one out for shorts). I might buy one pair in a neutral color but that’s it.

I’m also reevaluating my graphic tees. I adore graphic tees but I own a lot of them and I think it’s time to give a close look at how many I really wear regularly in a season.

Solid tee shirts are a staple for me for layering during our transitional weather and I ordered a refresh of those from ll bean because their Pima cotton is super soft and the material has a nice weight (ie not flimsy).

Footwear is my easiest category this coming S/S, only 1 pair was on my list, white leather slip on Ecco sneakers which I managed to grab on sale.

My local consignment shop has been helpful for S/S, my straight leg jeans, cropped pink pants with navy side stripe, and rust joggers were all recent additions. An out of season addition was an ivory half zip pullover from a western store I enjoy that is clearing out their winter items for spring. I couldn’t pass up the 50 percent off price on a fleece pullover that did not have a hood (so hard to find non hooded sweatshirts that are also not crewnecks sometimes).
