I don't have local shopping friends, either, Chris. So YLF is my source! Sveta lives 5 hours away from me but I had to attend conference for my work a few hours away from her during the sale, so afterwards, I went to her place and we travelled to the US together. This was before Nordstrom's opened in Canada. Now I have closer options but the Canadian branch doesn't stock everything you can get in the US and sizes are very limited. And for some items it's still cheaper for me to get it from the States, though that probably won't be true this year with the exchange rate. We'll see.

Anyway -- take real time pictures in the dressing room and you will get great feedback from the group here on the spot!

That sounds like SO much fun Kerry! I unfortunately don't have any local friends that shop at Nordstrom...they all consider it too pricey. What's 's really going on is that I don't have a lot of friends who like shopping. I have a few friends who do like it but don't live nearby....but then again I can count all YLF members as "shopping buddies for NAS".

Suz I kind of remember that story about your NAS adventure although I think it actually happened before I joined ylf.

Great idea Kathie I’ll probably do that! I need to pick an SA first

Yes, you can also e-mail a list to your SA/shopper and have them pull items ahead. Essentially, they have lots of racks of clothes, assembled in the back, waiting for customer appointments. When you show up, they grab your items, and put them in a room. I usually give them the list 24-48 hours ahead.

So...if you establish a relationship with a specific SA, as Kathie says, you can specify a day during pre-sale that you want to come in and she will set your choices aside for you (or order them into the store in your size, if possible.)

Sveta and I didn't deliberately get set up in a room -- we didn't actually know it was possible. We just ordered our stuff online to be held at the store and then picked up. When the SAs saw how much STUFF we had, they volunteered to put us into a room so we could try it in greater comfort, and carted all our possibles down the hall. We then spent a riotous couple of hours in the changing area with SAs coming and going to get us new sizes, mineral water, and heaven only knows what else! Meanwhile we were snapping pics like mad on our phone and posting to the forum! One of the best shopping days I've ever had!

Thanks for chiming in, ladies.

Chris, I begin the mayhem of preselections with my clientele on July 11 at 8am. I work very long hours for ten days. I will share my thoughts on fab and not so fab stuff along the way and help you where I can. The top list picks for the sale go out at midnight for the public on July 20.

As a preselection shopper with a Nordies card, you can set up an app with a SA and shop the sale that way.

Thanks Suz, that's exactly the info I was looking for. I still can't believe the machinations you have to go through up there in Canada, but sounds like you have become a pro at doing it!

How exactly do you have them set up your stuff in a room? Is there some menu selection at order time or does it require a call/email to their customer support? And once they get everything assembled do you get more than 24 hours before you have to show up?

maybe I should get on a chat session with them...

p.s thanks Kathie, but I don't' want a personal shopper to pick stuff for me this time. I'm mostly going to be looking at shoes and bags and am hoping to avoid all the shipping boxes and bulky returns.

You can book an appointment with a personal shopper, https://m.shop.nordstrom.com/c.....k-stylists.

Or, if you have sales associate you’ve used before, drop that person an e-mail and get on their schedule.

I’ve had great experiences with the personal shoppers and SAs- people who stretch me to try different silhouettes and colors- and some merely adequate experiences. Since store #1 is no longer my home store, at this point, I’m having more success with shopping NAS on-line, and modeling the results here for feedback.

The actual sale starts on July 20 but pre-sale is usually about 10 days before that.

You can order ahead online during presale and have things delivered to a store and set up for you in a room. (Sveta and I did that once when we were cross-border shopping.) Or you can call the store and see if they'll be stocking the item in your size.

What I do here in Canada (living far from a store) is shop the presale and call up my closest store to see if the same items will be on sale in Canada and available in my size. I "pre-order" in an unofficial way, and they send the items to me for free once the actual sale begins. (They can't allow me to get the jump on other clients by sending in advance but they can put it aside for me on the first day of the sale.) Sometimes one of my preferred items will come from Calgary, another from Toronto, and still another from Ottawa. We don't get items in large numbers here so for my size I have to act fast. I also sometimes order direct from the US online, either to a US address -- I cross the border, try the stuff on, and send back what I don't want -- or to a friend who sends or brings the items up.

I've never had a SA do that, but we have a Nordies in my area, sort of. Still a 30 minute drive, but at least it's in my state.

I know I've put aside some wardrobe budget for shoes at the sale

I know NAS will be coming up in July, and I do remember that the point of it is that Nordstrom puts new fall/winter stuff on sale at roughly 40% off. Nordstrom card holders get access to the new stuff a few weeks before the general public. Those who spend a fairly big $$ amount on their card annually get some sort of even earlier access but I don't spend enough to qualify for that. And of course we have a great time doing a big group shopping thing here on YLF and help each other find what we are looking for and notice when things are restocked etc.

What I can't quite remember is the whole business about having an SA pull together specific items and going into a store to try them all on. How does that work?

And Angie or others do you know any of the exact dates yet?
