Those plaid tights are fantastic! I find fun tights really help with the long stretch of having to bundle up for the cold. Like Angie, the column of black with the denim jacket is just fabulous. And in fact, I need to copy it!

I had a berry colored sweater very similar to the red one in your last outfit and it ended up being donated. I don't think it's the shape that is the issue but rather the length. I really like the cocoon sweaters when they are longer (covering the bum and hip area). Might be worth trying.

Thanks everyone! I have gotten many compliments on the plaid tights and they are very fun to wear.

Suz, trousers just never seem to fit right. The front view is usually fine (as it is in these pants) but from the back view, the sides appear to go up and the waistband gapes in the middle. Trouser style pockets usually make this look worse. I get around that by wearing an untucked shirt (as I did above) or by wearing a blazer or sweater. I sometimes have this problem with jeans (especially with lightweight jeans or those with no "jean style" back pockets) but not usually, and not with jeans from Gap. I don't have this problem with any of my ankle pants or capris, and I don't know why other than maybe I just got lucky. My other problem with trousers is that they are almost always too short. Tall sizes are yards too long in length and in the rise, and unlike jeans, they don't come in long lengths.

Agree the plaid tights looks smashing with the denim jacket and dark pieces. The red is a great color!

You looks with the plaid tights are fab, esp the denim jacket one. The greys in #2 look well together. Love the sparkles! As for the cardigan in #4 I agree with Denise. I think that shape probably needs to be either pretty long or shorter, but you could also try it belted with skinnies as already suggested. Love the colour of it though

Ooooh….the plaid tights are so fantastic with the denim jacket! I think that's one of my favorites ever. The second outfit featuring gray and black is elegant so you'll find fashion love from me. I actually love open and cocoon cardigans, and love that color on you too. I think the length needs to be either shorter or longer though, or try belting it with bootcut or skinny jeans for a classic look.

I love the plaid tights! It is tough to see them in detail on my small laptop, but I own a pair of plaid tights myself and I adore them. Typically I let them star and pair them with a casual piece as you have done with the denim -- that's my favourite way to wear them. Mine are grey with a dark red line (as well as a darker grey line and off-white) so I also like to wear with my cranberry booties and coat.

Re the cocoon sweater, I am very intrigued by your response. I feel very similar about that shape on me. I had ordered one sweater in that shape and ended up sending it back -- it just felt frumpy on me no matter what. I do admire your decision to wear more colour, though.

With the pants, what feels off in trouser fit? Since you wear jeans so well, I am surprised.

Ornella was my Secret Santa and she gave me this wonderful pair of plaid tights. I couldn't wait to wear them!

Pic #1 - Plaid tights from Ornella, pencil skirts - JCP, blazer - Target, Mural bomber jacket, loafers - Trotters, denim jacket - American Eagle. The blazer is a one-button style, and the button is black with a gold trim. That, combined with the plaid tights and loafers gave this outfit a fun, preppy feel so my happiness factor was high. I thought that the Mural bomber and teal skirt gave the middle outfit a bit more of a funky feel, and I liked that too. My faded denim jacket is a favorite that hasn't been seeing much wear, so it was nice to wear it again.

#2 - Although I'm tired of black and gray, I do love this skirt which has some metallic silver threading through it. The gray band on the skirt and the gray blazer aren't an exact match, but I thought they went well enough together. The tights in #3 are the ones I'm wearing in #2, and they have black studs on them. My black booties were a Christmas gift from DH.

#4 - ICK! One of my style goals is to wear more color, so out came this outfit - and most of it is headed straight for the donation pile! The sweater is a cocoon style and I think it looks mega frumpy (I only wore it a short while as I was warm, thank goodness), the brown button-down collects lint so bye-bye to the shirt, and the only thing I'm keeping is the brown and navy houndstooth trousers. They are my one-and-only pair of trousers, as trousers just never seem to fit me correctly. I think I'll let the hem out slightly in these - it's long but I'd like it a little longer so I can wear them with my new brown booties (another Christmas gift from DH).

Any styling suggestions, especially for the fun-to-wear plaid tights and the studded tights, is greatly appreciated!
