Angie, ooo!! I love Tootsie!!! You had me laughing I really, really wanted a 1970s/80s type frame for my new specs. Current pair are just cheapies so I could see if I liked the shape. And I do! I'm hoping to get the real deal soon in tortoise or a deep wine. Hoping DS feels better soon. <3 So hard watching him vomit <3
Thank you for all of your terrific ideas! A better belt is needed -- you and the Fabbers have spoken! I was actually thinking about adding a t-neck underneath for a 70s vibe. I am also loving the long topper idea a lot. Will report back!

L'Abeille, I do love the idea for a longer vest. <3 I have many knitting patterns, so I'm browsing to see what would work.

Joyce, I don't have darker bottoms at the moment, but I do agree on the contrast level. Might get a darker slim bottom, so I will keep this in mind. I like your idea for a short jacket and/or some booties! Thank you for more ideas <3

Ket, the colours are great for you. I like your workshop with the pants. Wondering if something less contrast on the bottom might work in a slim style with a matching solid on top under the dress and then open the buttons on the bottom for a slight flow? Actually, just echoing Angie's suggestions but I also think this could work with a short style jacket. Booties or tall boots to work with a belt and you are good to go.

I don't lean very boho myself but I did live through the 70s. Imho what it needs is a hip-length open-fronted vest. Either in openwork crochet (I have one that I'm trying to make work) or in fringed suede.

You wear these colours beautifully, Ket! #3 is a stunning palette on you! Lots of super styling suggestions from the brilliant Fabbers! Hope DS feels better soon too.

Specs are sooo 1981! Tootsie-esque and rocking it ;)

FWIW, my styling suggestions:

L/S Uniqlo heattech layer underneath for warmth

Add a structured belt - love the obi idea!

Fab over your slim straights in #5!

Add tall boots to #1 with a better belt

T-neck underneath - '70s style, and open as a shacket

Long topper - same length as the dress

Val, Plaid with a plain supporting act does not Relaxed Glam Boho make. Touche! I really agree it needs more. I dont' have much for lace, so I'll have to see what I can do.

JAileen, thanks for a good idea! I actually have a very pair of 70s slouchy boots, with slight western leanings. I will try those on with the dress and report back!

Lyn, wow thank you! I'm blushing I will try it out with some opaque tights and boots soon. That's a great idea. I admit I forgot about tights. It's not very cold here yet and I didn't even think to put them on with the dress.

Carol, my scarves are very limited but I do have this one floral scarf... It's not silky but it's floral and just the right color. Definitely going to get out my boots for this dress! Will report back with some more workshop ideas soon.

Carla, thank you!! I love the colors so much I almost ordered a duplicate last year.

Lisa, good point on needing some contrast and juxtaposition. My jackets are very limited right now. Nearly everyone else has recommended either a stronger belt or good structured jacket. Time to go shopping. :)

Bijou, oh that's a smashing idea!! I have another dress that I am planning to layer a turtleneck under. I wonder if that would work with this...

Lise, that's a good point about the duster entering grunge. I'm not a grunge girl at all. I think I just need more accessories really. And boots. And a stronger belt and a good jacket or topper would also take it a long way.

Indigoprint, oooo!!! I love that idea for a knit vest! Thank you I have one in mind already, so I'll have to see if I can knit it up soon enough.

Tina, thank you! It does indeed open fully. I like the idea to try it as a duster.

Lisa (LJP), a leather jacket is exactly what I was mulling over when I posted, actually. And I always love a good kimono. I have some high shaft boots, though they aren't Frye's. I'll do some more workshopping and report back.

Irina, oh lace! I didn't think of that. Love your suggestion for an obi belt. I agree that the belt is flimsy. The bomber I own doesn't currently fit. Based on yours and others comments, a jacket of some kind would be best to find.

Jaime, yes, I agree. A little grit is what it needs! Thank you for the compliment.

Cookie, I will have to see what necklaces I own that could work with this. I admit I don't really have anything Lacey in any version, or a long tiered skirt. I'll have to see what I can buy or knit! Definitely going to try an obi belt with it though!

Kate, thank you! I think a statement belt could really do something magical for it. Have to see what I find.

It doesn't look “flannel nightie” to me!!!! I actually wanted to say it fits you like a glove and I like it as it is worn alone(12) with or without the cardi in nr 3-and no pants to it!!!! You have great legs and a smashing figure!!!! I wouldn't overdo the styling, it looks great as it is! For the colds I would do some a column of color (black, burgundy, or chock brown)on the legs withsome sheers or even better with opaques to loafers or some cowboy boots (you can use patent for both kind of shoes for elevating it from the your feel of “flannel nightie” which it really is NOT!

This is a fab dress and your colours! I like it with the flares most. The slim straights also work. Also like the idea of a different belt, cognac leather or similar. As a duster might veer into grunge rather than boho, it will depend what is under. I would wear it as a dress with tall boots, then add your boho jewellery/accessories.

I have a flannel dress and layer a light merino knit underneath which shows in the sleeves and around the neckline - it provides an additional layer of warmth without covering the dress and just provides another way to wear it.

Pretty dress! I think something with stronger contrast/structure is best for this style of dress, because the material looks soft and drapey I am craving something with stiffness and structure paired with it. Perhaps a moto jacket, or denim jacket, or leather jacket.

Oh, all is super cute! And I like the dress as is, but I love a preppy plaid. I like it with the straights. With the wide leg is okay, but better with straights. I think that's just me.
To make it more boho, besides a hand-knit topper, you could add a silk or silk-type scarf in a pattern or color you like. Scrunchy boots, metallic waist belt...

1. Add lace. Maybe a lace collar, cut the cuffs from the sleeves and replace with lace or crochet lace. It might elevate the dress and play with juxtaposition.
2. Wear it as a topper, open.

3. Style it with a cool hat and a bomber.

4. I would remove the belt, it looks a bit flimsy. Try it with a leather one or an obi style one (you probably able to make one, something silky and dressy).

To me, Glam Boho would include a leather jacket of some sort - maybe with a fringe, or not, a jazzed-up belt and a Frye high shaft boot. Or - instead of a leather jacket, a Johnnie Was -type kimono and the same high-shaft boot. A statement earring, too. A denim blazer might work well here with a boho-scarf.....

I love the fabric and color, especially for you! I think it works with the tied belt. You might try it with leggings and boots. You could also try a chunky sweater over the top so that it's more like a skirt? It looks like it opens all the way. For me, I'd wear it open as a duster.

I purchased this dress on a whim last year, photos 1-2. I don’t feel the shape itself is superb for my style or body shape. However, I love the colors, flannel fabric, and plaid print. The waist tie helps redeem it a bit. The pockets are very functional.

Tried it on today with
3. Handknit cocoon
4. Flares and platform boots
5. Slim straights
I ran out of time to try it with additional sweaters or shoes. I have pointy toe modern and 70e slouchy cowboy heels.

What can I do to make it Relaxed Glam Boho? I feel a super cool topper could elevate it out of possible “flannel nightie” territory. Not sure what to get though. I do knit a lot of sweaters, so maybe even a soft shawl collar belted cardigan??

Give me your best thoughts and honest feedback!
