that massimo dutti blazer is really special. the very low stance and the wide-ish but not extreme shoulder. with your structure, you can pull it off the way the model wears it, pseudo-double breasted.

it is worth a try-on. i've mail ordered from them before and the return was seamless.

Here's one more for you to consider. It might be too traditional / brownish - but I LOVE the longer cut. YLF Collect is not working on my flight, so I've just taken a screenshot. It's from Bloomies.

Thanks for the insight, Emily and others! You're not too late, for sure. I still haven't bought the blazer. I'm waiting on my two NAS purchases (a wool moto and the Nordstrom Signature blazer) - I suspect both will be returned. I'd rather not have $$$ on my credit card all at once, so I figured I'd wait until I'd evaluated those before I ordered more.

In the meantime, I've noticed a few other all-wool contenders. Boden has a jacket fit that is straighter and longer than the one I tried last year (which was too short and curvy). I don't love its navy houndstooth plaid on myself as much as the Massimo Dutti plaid, so I'll probably skip it, but others might be interested (In fact I see 4 others have collected it already)! It comes in other great tweed options, too.

I'm late to the party, but want to chime in because I love, love, love the look of Massimo Dutti. I have purchased only two items from them (because I am slow to pull the trigger and don't buy a lot) and both were as expected. One was a knit top and I was quite concerned about the fit so I emailed C/S about it and someone actually measured the item and reported back. I thought it was a fantastic customer service experience. And the items arrive so nicely packaged--a real treat to unwrap.

I love MD blazers, I own three. They run I would say true to size (eur 34 is obviously tight, 36 fits good, 38 is definitely too large for me). The price/fabric quality & fit ratio is great.
I was not impressed with their returns handling (esp. Spanish office) as once they almost lost my return package. But because I paid with PayPal and also made a photo of the return receipt, they obeyed )

The J Crew looks too roomy, but might be worth tailoring as the shoulders look fine. I love the Massimo Dutti much more, though - way more interesting and the fabric is a better plaid to me.

I had a Zara package stolen from my mail delivery place (a copy / print shop near home) a few weeks ago. Zara uses OnTrac instead of UPS or FedEx. Those two are good about not leaving things at business addresses after hours. But the OnTrac package was delivered hours after they closed and supposedly signed for by someone whose name th shop doesn’t recognize. For Zara things I’ll just have them shipped to the store now but that doesn’t help for Massimo Dutti.

But, Zara refunded the stolen order after a few easy phone calls, at least.

I think the J. Crew is too big, yeah. Too bad. It's always great to find a good Collection piece.

Massimo Dutti is cut smaller and narrower than most American makers. i actually bought a MEDIUM in my leather jacket from there. Like you, I'm usually a 0 or 2 or xs in US sizes. I take a S in jackets at Zara.

I'd size up to the 4 or 6 there and give it a shot. Quality is nicer than (most) Zara but not super high end. Definitely worth looking at if delivery and returns are free. I've never ordered from them but have only ever had one problem with Zara and that was actually a UPS issue, not Zara per se. Eventually we got it straightened out.

I just added a photo of a J Crew Collection blazer I bought used, this winter. I think it’s too big so I never wore it. Opinions are welcome. I’ve put it up for sale on Poshmark but I could always change my mind I suppose.

Ooh, the fit of that one looks pretty good, La Ped. I haven't looked at Reformation much - what I've seen hasn't been a great match for my style - but they have a new store a few blocks from me. I should keep an eye out for new fall versions of that blazer.

(I should also remember that fall things are only just appearing, and there will certainly be a lot of glen plaid blazers this season, so I shouldn't rush to find one before the options are out there!)

The double breasted style looks really great on you, so fingers crossed the MD version is a good fit! Not double-breasted, but have you looked at The Reformation Lazer Blazer? They haven't released many new colours for fall yet, but it might be worth keeping an eye out for a black/grey one.

Unlikely to belt it, but I'll consider it.

It's too bad the photos only show it belted (or at a deceptively flattering side angle!), so it's hard to judge how boxy it is. But some of their other blazers are the same cut, and they don't seem too wide at the waist. The Halogen blazer I tried on is a bit wider than I'd like.

Runcarla, I do have relatively wide shoulders and arm muscles, so that could be a concern.

Joy, great point that I could get a larger size and tailor it if needed. My boyfriend has to do that with all his jackets, and I should take advantage of our excellent tailor's skills more often.

I think I'll order it in 4 and 6 and try it out. I don't really need another blazer after buying so many professional clothes for interviews this winter... but if it's perfect I'll keep it, and the price is quite reasonable for the apparent quality.

I have only visited MD stores for garments and try-ons, so no ordering experience. MD runs small and is made for a slim/narrow build - both men's and women's lines. I'm a size 8 in most things, but even a MD 12 has fit issues for me due to their narrow shoulders, small arm holes, slender sleeves. I have the same problem with JCrew. These don't seem to be your issues, so you might actually like the brand.

Very Cool blazers, suits your style perfectly. Could be a real workhorse if you find one you love.
I wish I could help but my recent blazer purchase required me to try on about 10 blazers, as when they don’t fit they’re quite unforgiving. Even the shape of the particular blazer can influence things more than the size itself, the same brand might have two styles of similar blazer that fit quite differently, even in the same size.
I think because they’re so tailored that they really need to be right otherwise it’s noticeable.
I can only suggest keeping an open mind....and ordering 2 sizes! Probably worth it to find the perfect jacket :).
I wish you luck!

I'm on a quest for a long glen plaid blazer with sharp shoulders, conveniently found everywhere this season. The problem is that I can't stand wearing most synthetics (physical feeling, not aesthetic), and most of the stylish ones I encounter are polyester or viscose, like the Halogen blazer I tried on yesterday (photo below.)

Anyway, I've just found this new wool blazer at Massimo Dutti (edit: added find).
https://www.massimodutti.com/u.....87547.html

There's no store near me, and I've never ordered from them. It seems like they do free shipping and returns. Any concerns about their return policies? As for sizing, they have a handy size estimator that says I should be a 4, maybe 6. I wear 0 or 2 in most US brands, but I'm very willing to believe I'm a 4 in theirs. Is the sizing comparable to Zara?

For blazers, I find that Theory and Helmut Lang fit my shape; J Crew is often too narrow in the shoulders; Boden is often cut for a shorter torso and with a less-straight cut than I prefer. Any sense where Massimo Dutti falls on that spectrum?

Photo 1: the blazer in question
Photo 2: the Halogen blazer - close to the look I'm going for, but synthetic

Update: this winter, I bought a second-hand J Crew Collection blazer. It’s too big, right? Photo #3 below. I realized I never took photos to evaluate the fit, but I think I should trust my gut on this one.

I also considered the Nordstrom Signature wool blazer in Finds but I think the cut is more classic than I'm looking for, and it's a bit more tan and less grey. It's sold out in my size, anyway.
