I wear a pixie, and agree with others who have said the upkeep and cost of maintenance can be a bit of a pain. But, it is fun and low risk to experiment. Get those copper highlights, and if you find it too much work, just get a solid color put over and you'll be grown out in no time.
Love your pixie with your bone structure!

Thanks for the picture, Suz! Those highlights look awesome, and it's always helpful to have something to show the stylist.

You and your hair are adorable!!

I wear mine in a slightly longer asymmetrical pixie now, but when I had it similar to yours, I still highlighted it, and it worked well. Here's a pic. I tended always to wear it a bit choppy because that's how it wanted to go, and the highlights really work with that.

Welcome! We have lots of pixie lovers here!

Welcome! Your hair is adorable! I like it as it is, but it wouldn't really hurt to try the highlights? Since it's so short, it seems like it would be easy to go back to natural pretty quickly. I'd give it a try for the summer if you feel like it!

What a great cut - and it looks relatively low maintenance?
I find that coloring my hair (for years now mostly to cover some odd gray) is higher upkeep. So even with highlights it takes some additional time and expense to maintain. Your natural color is really pretty,

If you want a slight change, maybe a semi-permanent color glaze to boost the natural color and shine?

Welcome! I LOVE your haircut, it suits you so well! I'm with the ladies who love your natural hair color - I'd be thrilled if mine was so nice. But of course as someone who has highlighted her year forever, I understand the appeal. I like the idea of copper.

You look darling and elfin in that pixie cut! Very mischievous too! I love your natural hair color so I don't think highlights are necessary but I am speaking as one who colored and highlighted my hair for many years and made the decision to embrace my natural color (gray) two years ago. I also wear mine quite short like Shannon.

Thanks for all the feedback (and compliments)! Parsley, I asked my stylist if the highlights would end up looking strange, and she said it was unlikely since I get my hair cut so often (and therefore could get it touched up often). But I'll have to think about just going light all over - that sounds like something I might like. RoseandJoan, yes, I almost exclusively go choppy. Sometimes I wear it sleek, but choppy really appeals to me.

Thanks again, and I'll post pics of whatever I do! I'm sure I'll do *something* - with hair as short aside, coloring is low risk.

You have the perfect face for a pixie. I personally think your natural colour is beautiful so there are a couple of things to consider:

Would you be happy with the gradual lightening of your hair? Or will you miss your darker locks?

Will you be happy with the additional expense and maintenance the highlights may require?

Do you always wear your hair choppy? A sleek style can look fantastic with a solid colour.

One thing is for certain, you are gorgeous without highlights and will be gorgeous with.

Welcome, Meghan!
I love your pixie cut- it really shows off your beautiful bone structure!
When I had my hair super short my stylist warned me that highlights ran the risk of looking "spotty" on really short hair, and that it often looks better to just go a little lighter all over. Then, as it grows out, a super-short pixie is one of the few styles that can look good with the lighter ends and darker roots look, IMO.

Welcome! What a cute cut and beautiful smile! With highlights, I'd start out simple, with just a few and in the same warm tones you already have in your hair. She's right that well-done highlights will bring out the "lines" of the cut.

Hi Meghan - congrats on your first post!
Your pixie cut is fantastic. I have short hair as well and love it. Has your stylist indicated any particular colours for your hi-lights? It does look like you have some golden/copper in your hair already so that would be a safe bet for hi-lights.

Hello! This is my first post:) I'm looking for advice about highlighting my hair. I have a pixie cut, which I love. My stylist recommended adding a few highlights to showcase the texture of my cut, and I think that sounds like a great idea. But I've never colored my hair and I feel overwhelmed by the possibilities. I was thinking I'd add a few golden coppery bits, but I'm not sure. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!
