LOL, Julie!

Adorkable, you look ADORable in your short hair. LOVE it on you.

I don't have a pixie now but when I did I also wore earrings much more often; less when I wore glasses. I wore fewer necklaces, more earrings.

I'm finding it a bit of a tough adjustment to longer hair; it looks much more conservative (which I'm not), feminine (which I am, but I like some edge to it), and requires more necklaces than I own. Interesting...

Adorkable, First off short hair really suits you. You look ever so pretty.
I also cut my hair short this summer. Recently to a length similar to yours. I love it. I can't believe I wasted so much time and energy trying to grow it.

I too thought I now needed more earrings and makeup, at first. Then quickly realized that in fact, the opposite was true. Too much tend to drag the look down.

I have noticed Angie does not wear earrings very much, either.

Mousse, wax, paste... t's so fun to experiment. It can really completely change your look when hair is that short.

With short hair I also like to use anti-frizz shine serums, even though my hair isn't that frizzy. When my hair was longer these serums were my enemy: with short hair they're among my best friends! Short haircuts are all textured to some degree, thinning strands' ends , and I suspect that is why.

On balancing the look, avoiding too young: have you experimented with scarves?

Lyn that is a fantastic text. Thank you for the link!

I brush it. Generally after spritzing with water to deal with the frizz & flyaways that come with living in the tropics.

Ooh! Did I mention how much more lifestyle appropriate my hair is now? No trying to keep it out of my face on a hike or run, no struggling to breathe through it in the pool, no gross sweaty neck when I choose to wear it down in the wet season.

The best thing about short hair is that I use whatever's at hand - mousse or wax usually - that will do something textured. The longer it is, the more particular it gets about what products it likes.

You?

Mine's fairly straight; I have gone very short (ie: 1/2 inch all around - my dad called me The Little Monk) ... but I didn't really like that look; :)

I think short hair is so funky. There's a good thingy I ready about short hair:

Thanks, all! Was just curious, and it's fun to hear what others say.

@afterism: I have a pretty femme-y style in general, so it works out in the same way for me. I don't wear pants often, and when I do they're usually slacks with a fairly feminine cut as well. I also have a very curvy figure on a fairly slight frame, so I am far from androgynous, even in sweats.

@Kari: Glasses without earrings makes me look super-serious, which I am not. It's all earrings all the time for me. And enough mousse or wax that I get some height so my face looks heart-shaped instead of chipmunk-storing-up-for-winter-round! (I don't wear my glasses except for the computer, driving, and in some professional settings where I desperately need to add a few years to my appearance, which the hair helps with as well.)

@lyn*: Quality dudes like short hair. Or so I'm told. It wasn't true the last time I had short hair, but it does tend to screen out some of the more obvious misogynists, which is a total bonus.

I definitely need it very, very short. Since it's fairly curly, past an inch or two it turns into that shapeless haircut that I associate with elementary school teachers and bureaucrats. Pictures suggest that you all have somewhat longer hair than me, at least at the sides, but also straighter hair, so that makes sense.

I have a very short cut as well. Had it about 6 months and I'm still loving it.

My hairdresser cut it a bit too short this time and it's a bit butch but it will sort its self out.

I do feel like I should wear earrings more now that I have short hair. I also like the contrast between my very short hair and the generally feminine nature of my wardrobe. Lots of pretty dresses & skirts.

As for how it has altered my style - I make more of an effort to dress in feminie silhouettes. Partially because with short hair my face looks almost identical to one of my brothers when he was younger.

I think I look more modern, which suits parts of my personality, and more my age, which I sometimes struggle with.

Very pretty cut - and cute glasses, too!

I don't have super-short hair (for the past few years mine has hovered around chin length) and have never rocked a pixie - but I've still been pretty short. At that time, I found myself wearing earrings often regardless of whether I was wearing glasses. Now, with longer hair (well, to me, it's longer), I feel like I need to wear either glasses OR earrings, but not both, unless I'm going for just a small, simple earring.

Anyone else rocking very short hair?

I just cut mine off (again) and am loving it, but I feel like I need big earrings and loads of eye makeup to maintain a femmy look. That's not necessarily a good or a bad thing, but I'm curious how those of you who've gotten drastic haircuts feel like it has altered your style.

(This is not the best photo ever, but it will do.)
