Suz, look for Sasha Juan products - I love Ocean Mist and their Hair Paste for short pixie hair.

May I add that now that my hair is long, I don't use the paste as much and have started using A LOT of heavier, oil products for shine. On short hair it used to grease it immediately, whereas I found out it is not so much the case with long hair. I spray on KM hair stay humidity seal on my wet hair as I blowdry it and it looks very healthy.

Angie, I feel the same about starting the day with a clean head! I have uber thick hair, by the way, so I can take more product without my hair looking greasy. I can piece it out with the coconut oil, but I need to spray it afterwards, with a strong hold spray, like Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine Super Spray. Otherwise, my hair would fall flat after a bit. Oh, I am so excited, I got color and highlights today and I love it! I wish I could show you a picture, but I haven't been here long enough to post photos.

I'm back. Of course, Suz and EJ.

I echo, Janet. Use a SMALL amount of product.

This is what I use. The purple tube for shine, and the jar for texture. I LOVE shiny hair. It's like shiny "apple" skin. Looks crisp, chic and healthy.

IMPORTANT: I wash my hair daily so the goo is applied fresh. I can't handle second day product and then piling on more product. It makes me feel and look very unpolished and yuck. A DAILY clean head with fresh product is the only way I have a good hair day every day. A competent stylist helps too.

I used coconut oil often when I still had long hair, it seemed to work well. I don't know why I stopped with the pixie, I will need to give it another try. I regularly use coconut oil as skin care, so I have it at hand in any case.

Even though I'm not a pixie wearer (freakishly small head here), I'll chime in that the key for any shine product seems to be: use the *smallest* amount. Anything I try to use makes my hair appear greasy unless I'm really careful with it. I have a B&B shine spray that I need to spritz ever so slightly on my hands and then apply it so that it never gets too near the roots to prevent my hair from looking greasy and flat.

Following with interest here. Anything that provides shine always seem to make my hair too greasy looking . Finding that right balance is hard.

Thank you, Angie. I am going for some highlights tomorrow :). Suz, I do not know if you will see this, but I really like your pixie, too. I thought I would mention that I am actually a licensed barber and that my favorite shine product of all is actually organic coconut oil. The tiniest bit, melted in your fingers and spread throughout your hair, will give you great shine and it is good for your hair as well.

Angie, if I might ask, what is your current favourite product for amping shine and increasing "pieceyness"? I'm in the market to (maybe) switch. My salon carries the Kevin Murphy line which is very nice but I don't care for the fragrance of all the products. (They seem to vary). I'm also looking for a "shine" product that does not turn my silver to brass. :)

Off to get a trim this week or next so it is on my mind!

Thanks, Jesse.

My hair is cut and foiled every 6 weeks, and only in front because I'm naturally blonde. Teresa is a genius with the foil placement - she takes tiny bits and my hair is never brassy or dry. It's also heavily textured so that the two tones are distinctive throughout my 'do. And I use product to amp up the shine, and create a "piecey" and wispy effect. Hope that helps.

I love your hair (Angie) with the short fringe! I am wondering if I ought to try that. I also wondered how you do your blond color on short hair. Is it highlighted with a cap, or painted on?
