I jumped right to the pics and thought what a smashing coat. Looks fantastic on you - great colour, love the black buttons, and this fuschia is your colour.
Read the comments - went back to look at the pics. I see that the coat itself is "high-waisted", but it doesn't bother my eye at all. Seems to be the intent of the style.

Most coats fit me this way, but I think this one has an intentional, almost empire seam at the waist. I think i looks really flattering and I'd keep it as long as it doesn't *feel* funny.

I really like it on you. The colour is great and I love the length. If you are comfortable then I see keep it - so fun to have a bright coloured winter jacket.

Well, there is nothing wrong with looking long-legged, and I actually quite like this coat . But you need to like it , or else you won't wear it or will wear it unhappily.

Well I went back to the store earlier (for something else!) And looked at how the coat fit on the mannequin, and it fit the mannequin the same way it fits me...so I guess it is supposed to fit like that? I do like looking long legged....

It is almost like a "shrunken" pea coat. I suspect it is cut this way on purpose, although it's hard to tell because it does look a bit different on the model. If it's possible it might be worth trying the regular 0 just for comparison.

I don't think it would be comfortable for me, personally; I once had a thrifted coat from Zara that fit a bit this way. It was intentional, and part of the design, but it never really felt right to me.

the jacket waist seems to sit higher than your natural waist. it appears to give you super ling legs, but your waist appears to start immediately below your boobs. i guess it depends on what silhouette you want to project.

i would return if it were my coat.

Thanks for the replies so far. I have not tried it in the non-petite size, as the coats in the regular sizes (in store, anyway) only go down to a 0...and a 0 is even bigger than a 0P. I should probably post a pic of myself with it unbuttoned for better comparison to the model, as that does change the way the coat hangs quite a bit.

ETA: Okay, I added some unbuttoned shots.

It looks shorter on you than it does on the model. Did you try it on in the not petite size? That might fit better. Otherwise, I would probably pass it up, since (and I know from experience) a too high waist can be annoying to wear.
I do love the color on you!

First thing I notice is that the model, does notmwear it buttoned in the front in any of the pictures, so hard to compare.

It does not look to me as if you need to size up. Imthink the coat fits you well and gives you a little room to layer underneath it. The sleeves are a touch long, but not overly so.

However, if you don't feel fab init, return. Coats get a lot of wear and should make you feel great every time you wear them!

Please help me make a decision on whether to keep this coat! I think it's cute, but the waistline of the coat hits me well above my natural waist (see photos). There is no possible way that I am too tall for the coat, since I'm only 5 1/2" tall, plus the sleeves and shoulders seem to fit me perfectly...I bought a 00P, which is my normal size for tops in this brand (LOFT), but do I need to size up or something? Help!!

ETA: for reference, here's a link to the coat so you can see how it looks on the model:
