I used to buy pillow after pillow looking for one that wouldn't make my neck hurt. Then I bought a foam one from my chiropractor. Relief!

I buy new pillows for me and DH yearly at Bed Bath and
Beyond. I too am allergic to down and feathers, and they have a variety of foam pillows. We like the Laura Ashley pillows, in king size, but I take "medium firm" and DH likes "extra firm"....They look identical when the bed is made with pillowcases. Not too pricy, if I remember right, about $20 each, plus they take coupons.....Mine lasts pretty well, but DH seems to wear his out more quickly.....

I swear by the pillows that are filled with buckwheat husks. These are ideal for side sleepers who want firm support for their necks; it will stay in place in whatever shape you push it into. First discovered by me when one of my kids bought one for another as a no-ideas birthday gift; it became our family's headache-relieving pillow that we all fought over. My patients with neck arthritis appreciate them too. Can be found in some stores (one of ours was bought at Sears) but have since found a local lady who sells them at the farmer's market.

My best pillows came from The Company Store.

ETA - if you are looking for foam, I have ordered from the Foam Factory.

I got mine at SAMs. If you're sensitive you can get the allergy covers to add a layer between you and whatever your pillow is made of - maybe more for peace of mind but I'm sure it doesn't hurt. I do the same as I have bad environmental allergies too.

Each member of my family prefers a different filling for their pillow.
I love Lands End pillows and get the primaloft which is substitute for down. They used to have these available in a variety of firmness.
Also, my son will sleep only with one of those memory foam pillows.
I don't mind paying extra for nice pillows because sleeping comfort is a top priority of mine.

My physiotherapist told me to get new pillows as my down ones weren't supportive enough or high enough to keep my spine straight. Been unable to find anything but have "stolen" hubby's foam filled wool wrapped one. It is remarkable. Keeps you warm or cool and very supportive without being hard.
Have been unable to find another one though (hubby needs his) but you probably would have better luck than I as shopping is horrid here.

We have memory foam ones which I like, but I realize aren't everyone's cup of tea. We used to get regular ones at Costco since they were a good price and I'm not picky on cheap vs. expensive pillows. No down here either - DH is allergic.

Second vote for the water pillow, which comes in a non-down version. I ordered one for DH and we mock-scrap over who gets to sleep on it, it's so comfortable.

It seems like it would feel sloshy under your head, but it doesn't, due to their excellent instructions on the correct way to fill it. The only way you'd know it was a different kind of pillow is when you go to pick it up and it weighs a lot.

ETA: We have the MediFlow one with down and the quilted cover, following customer reviews that recommended both. The non-down version with the quilted cover should be just as good.

I buy the cotton with polyfill Ralph Lauren ones at Macys. When they have one of their good sales, they are around $10 each. Every time I am there they try to hard sell me on the more expensive ones (some are REALLY expensive) but honestly they feel the same to me (at least in the store).
I agree about no down pillows. I have some and they are totally useless for side sleepers. (We just use them as the extra "decorative" pillows on the bed.)
I also DO NOT like memory foam. I want my pillow to support my head, not conform to it.

I got a water pillow from Amazon. Sounds a bit 80s, but I had the foam ones first and they gave me neck cricks. The water pillow is wonderful because you can fill it to your perfect firmness and it cradles your head in any position.

Odd question, I know, but does anyone have a recommendation on where to buy pillows? We need new ones as we've been waking up with headaches and neck aches. Realized the hypo allergenic foam ones we use we had bought before we were married.

We went shopping this weekend for them and were puzzled where to start. We'd bought our original ones at Kohls years ago, but they had nothing of even remotely similar quality.

I am allergic to down and feathers. I suck it up for a winter coat, but it is entirely different to sleep on them. And we are both side sleepers, so it was hard to find firm down in our budget back then anyway.

I'd prefer king to fit the bed, but am open to anything!
