It’s already the 6th April for me so it’s a Saturday with time to play! And hubby is at Saturday morning work at his vet clinic today so I am by myself.<br /> This was my favourite cover though I have never heard of the book before. Love the colours.<br /> So: first outfit is one I do wear when it’s warmer. The green sandals (2016) made me buy the Veronika Maine top (2020) as such a perfect match. The earrings are older maybe 2011 or 12, they have a matching pendant which DD2 (aged 30) has stolen for now, and she has gone down country to do a Masters so I can’t get it back! Another option with yellow loafers for the yellow base, the top does have specks of yellow.<br /> Second outfit made dressier to get some sparkles and pink in for the fairy and birds. I have worn the fringed tunic IRL for both work and Art Deco dress-ups. 30 wears now since bought in 2014 for Art Deco Weekend. And Mum’s “opal” (fake) necklace which I had restrung in maybe 2021. Butterfly earrings a cast-off from DD1 as a teenager. And sparkly sandals bought for her 2019 wedding.<br /> Third outfit is more real. However the lime green layering top (2010) was sitting in the dress-up cupboard but have brought it out especially for today. Might wear it all day now though. We are going to friends for dinner. Thank you so much for starting it, Bella. It's been a lot of fun. </p> <p>Here's my final submission.</p> <p>The bright green sweater was a slam dunk. The pants have both green and blue, and I usually split the difference and wear them with teal. The scarf mixes pale green with yellow, lilac, and a hint of sparkle, so was the best match for the inspiration pic.</p> <p>With the pants, I was torn. Mostly, because I have the ideal pair: green with a graphic leaf print, but they're in the holding zone due to fit issues, and not readily available even to show you. They were much loved as my first "wild card" pair of floral print trousers, that worked surprisingly well, so much so that I bought more in later years. Pair #2 (in pic #2) is my favourite and most worn. I took the flat lay pics to convince myself which worked better.</p> <p>I had a selection of ditzy floral print scarves too, but the colours weren't as suitable.</p> <p>My preppy instinct was to layer over a big white shirt, but I think this needs the close juxtaposition of colours to reflect the riotous vegetation.</p> <p>Also, these pants are shorter than I remembered (yay rayon), but the flash of skin seemed fitting. </p> <p>I wore knee high riding boots from home because our mixed rain/snow storm is ongoing. I can say they were for the military influence in the story? The first one (pic 2) is what I'd wear if I were going to work today. At first I thought I didn't really have anything appropriately colored, then I remembered this bright green dress, and the Johnny Was scarf from several years ago, which captures the nature elements as well as the geometric pattern, as well as the pop of yellow. The silvery shoes are for the fairy-like creature in the middle of the picture, as are the silver earrings repeated from the other day. And the red beads for the... berries? in the pic. Oh, and I tied the scarf around my waist because I am feeling like big scarves around my neck just don't look current on me at the moment.</p> <p>The second pic is what I am actually wearing today to meet a friend for drinks. It's a rainy day so the yellow raincoat and black boots and bag are perfect to pay tribute to the border on the book cover. Same earrings along with a slightly more subtle necklace to capture the round and shiny elements. The forest creatures aren't visible in the print of the blouse, so you'll just have to imagine them! The shades of green aren't quite right, but I feel like the tulle skirt is pretty fanciful. It went by so fast.</p> <p>Love the green tropical colors of this book so I began with a black column using my black ponte pants again and a Uniqlo linen blouse. I have very little green in my wardrobe but I remembered having a green/gold ribbon necklace and this lovely green Afghani pashmina that was gifted to me. My cranberry red handbag makes another appearance referencing the red bird on the cover.&nbsp;</p> <p>Not something I'll wear today as there's been some fresh snow that fell but its a dressy combination that I can use if the occasion calls for it.</p> <p>Thanks <b>Bella</b> for bringing back this really fun challenge.
