Mine has the same cover as UmmLila’s but is more battered! It started a lifelong love of Tolkien, so much so that my first car, a Riley Elf, was given the name Luthien Tinuviel Elf, Luth for short. Number plate was EW718 which stood for Elfwoman in my 21-year-old mind.<br /> It’s now lunchtime, here are the pics. No mountains but some hills on my tunic and dark green duster coat over. Also, the weather was a lot easier to work with than earlier in the week, and suited my mood and the outfit I was leaning toward. Disclaimer: This outfit is a bit more "hobbit lass" than literal book cover.</p> <p>I love green, so green was a natural to lean into. The linen circle skirt came first; the rustic texture of linen and shade of green is quite hobbity. With it I put a long sleeve blouse of textured cotton with blue and green embroidery. The embroidery is angular, reminiscent of the Dwarvish script on the cover border, and the lines of the trees and mountains.</p> <p>I diverged from the strict color scheme by using a cognac leather belt instead of black or blue. Wide belts are my favorite with this outfit formula, which is one of my few "Warm But Not Too Hot" options. I like to get the wear in while I can! The belt suits the rustic hobbit feel, with its natural color and whipstitching.</p> <p>To complete in the morning, I wore soft, lightweight green boots (we'll say they're Elvish, sort of) and a green cashmere wrap that was a brilliant estate sale find. When it warmed up, I ditched shawl, tights, and boots and added green sandals for a walk.</p> <p>For jewelry, I wore my favorite silver hoops, which have a zigzag edge, and Galadriel's ring, Nenya. But dressing a bit like Bilbo and his mates, I have cropped trousers (which actually have aqua checks running through the grey), wooly socks (I think they must have worn sock and boots when bare feet became impossible, no?) with a triangular mountain-like pattern in grey, white, charcoal, and green, a white shirt and grey vest, whose neckline echoes all the angles. Red comes in via my boots, my puffer, and my jacket.
