Thanks for the kind feedback. As I look back at the pic the shape is not as unflattering as I first thought. Whilst I normally tend towards cleaner lines and a more sporty look, maybe I can sometimes add a more romantic touch.

Thanks Angie for the challenge and getting us all outside our comfort zones!

Oh what a lovely outfit! Even if it was just for dress up. I think you captured the womanly sense of the painting beautifully, and you look so summery too. I love silky skirts.

Great interpretation! I had some of the same thoughts about the painting. That loose sort of peasant top that is allowed to fall off her shoulder. I think your look captures that feeling.

Interesting Firecracker, I do wear all the components of it although they are not my favourites. From about 2005-2010 I wore this type of look more... although often an A Line skirt, sometimes a fitted tee, sometimes jeans with a patterned top and a scarf.

I am not an art expert but to me Picasso is a very sensual painter - there is a male body part in the head of this painting for example, lots of bare breasts appear in his work. So I wanted to wear something that was very feminine but not girlish, and a little disheveled- this is how I see the woman in the painting (I don't have to work very hard to be RATE though).

It was fun to try on a look just for fun....it has given me a few ideas. That has been the fun thing in the challenge - just seeing how different people come up with new ideas both within their established style persona and outside it.

Isn't it fun to pull together an outfit to try, just because. . . there's a YLF challenge? You look great, so summery, relaxed, and pretty with a touch of RATE. I like your hair, too. Just curious: Do you think you would wear this outfit? I think it looks fine--it's just a matter of whether it fits with where you are now, style-wise.

Wow! What a brilliant interpretation. I mean I have been only using colors as my inspiration, because I hardly know much about history. But I got some history lessons today Fun outfit and thought process

I have been enjoying everyone's interpretations of these paintings and have commented where I can. It has been hard to keep up!!

This was probably my second favourite of the five artworks after the acrobat. I decided not to worry about the colours in the painting but to go with the era, the place and the theme. So I am trying to be mid 20th Century South Mediterranean with a full skirt and a sort of peasant top (actually a tunic but tucked in). I added a vintage belt and some pearly beads (to echo the beads in the painting), and my practical sandals.

I wanted to emphasise "womanliness" so the skirt and top together are not conventionally flattering to my mind. If you look closely the head in the painting has a very manly section...ahem. I thought about a tighter top with more cleavage but decided this pattern and colour was appropriate. The skirt is silky which to me is a dreamy texture.

I used to wear this tunic a lot, and still pull it out to wear with tights around the house, over a swimsuit, or with shorts. The skirt is a thrift find that I have worn twice, and will keep, but I think it is more a style I wore about 6-8 years ago. The belt was also thrifted and I do love it but rarely wear it. The beads were a gift and get dragged out for the odd look and have been great for costume parties. The sandals are so comfortable - I am reluctant to part with them but again remind me of my style when I had small children.

I did not wear this (I had a meeting and wore a tailored dress, heels and a jacket) so it was really me playing dress ups.

ETA to add the close up (sorry I don't think this is a great pic). The pic outside is very washed out due to the harsh sunlight at 1pm.
