Since I was going to work (or just out in public, really), I obviously couldn't just wear my sheer white over bare breasts! Instead, I decided to put the bright colors *underneath* the white linen sweater, which, in addition to being slightly sheer, has laddered stitches that show the brightly colored floral tee underneath. The transparency and peek-a-boo elements are a bit alluring in the spirit of the painting while still being work-appropriate. I prefer this combination without anything over it, but it was cold today and freezing in the lab, so I had to wear a topper. The citron tipping on my grey blazer brings another sour bright into the mix, and my trusty blue skinnies are the blue element. My original plan had been to wear my tall cognac lace-up boots to echo the cognac patterned curtain in the background; however, when I put them on they felt all wrong, too heavy both in color and visual weight (sorry, Picasso). I replaced them with my gold oxfords, which I liked much better. They still have lacing to suggest the geometric design of the curtain, and the gold is another nod to the dreamer's golden hair. For the darker, earthy element, I decided to use my olive bag instead to reflect the green wall. </p> <p>I LOVED this combination of bright print under the linen sweater, and will definitely wear it again. I wouldn't have thought of it without the painting as inspiration. </p> <p>(handknit sweater, Bleu Claire tee, Gap jacket, Vince jeans, born oxfords, MZ Wallace bag) </p>
