Geraldine, this was an old post and I'm afraid I didn't photograph all of these outfits (a girls gotta work). But I'm glad you liked it. It was fun putting it together and thinking through it all and I did wear a lot of the outfits over last fall/winter.

This year, my style is shifting a bit - but I'll still be wearing many of these items and maybe I'll do a few more WIW posts.

Excellent capsule! I found Ingunn's comments very insightful, too! Your colors are saturated, but subdued enough to be very blendable. I think I've had trouble because many of the colored and patterned items in my wardrobe are very distinct and can fight each other.

I admire your ability to put together "real casual" outfits that are stellar, but also practical.

Texstyle, this is AMAZING! Thanks for posting this! it's wonderful how many outfits one can make with just a few items. It's quite liberating, is it? You did an amazing job and the outfits seem very well thought out. I'm looking to build my own capsule wardrobe myself (as soon as I can get over my lack of objectivity) and it's amazing to see what you've come up with!

Thank you!

caro - I'm thinking of adding more snake print too. It is so flexible and Claire has really inspired me to try and find a snake print top.

Ingunn, thank you for taking the time to look - I really value your input. I agree that a black pant might be a good option. I have those in my closet so it will be pretty easy to try them out. I'm working on adding some additional pants in new colors/styles since I've found myself in a blue jeans rut over the past couple of years. I tried to work with my olive slouchy khakis but I just couldn't blend them in to the rest of my color scheme in a way that made me happy. I think I might need to create an olive/white/red/cognac capsule. I know I didn't have to stick to the restrictions of the original capsule, but I wanted to in order to challenge myself.

soobee- thanks for looking!

Angie - I have worn all of the items here except I didn't have the black moto before so they were worn with either the denim jacket or no jacket. So while I think they will all work, I still need to take the time to try each one on and assess. Wardrobe planning takes quite some time!

TS, this is so much fun!

The first thing I notice is that you've picked tops in both solids and pattern, and that you have light, medium and dark valued colors. You also have various necklines. This is exactly the way I do it, too. A selection of significantly different valued colors and the mix of solids/patterns opts for a more interesting capsule. Your bottoms are not as varied, and for greater variety you could swap one of the jeans for a black or a white pant. I know you are not much of a skirt girl; The selection is great as is, by all means. Your toppers are significantly different, which I think is important because these two will be worn most frequently, along with the shoes. Now I want a Spiegel, too! The accessories and shoes are all versatile and well chosen. I love how you strengthen the animal print theme with the scarf and belt. Your new black booties could definitely be put to work along with this, and the leopard belt, too. That's not cheating, it's adjusting. A few extra accessories is always ok, but I also love your commitment to the original capsule recipe, because it forces us to be even more creative when we have less to play with.

The colors are beautiful! Burgundy, cream, brown, navy and emerald. They are all very harmonious and easily mixable. Your selection of animal prints are classic and adds lots of interest and texture.

Your outfit suggestions will probably work really well, all of them. It's a little difficult to assess outfits not seen on a body, but I'm sure these will suit you and your lifestyle as I know it. They reflect a put together, casual, modern classic style, and I'm sure you will find these outlines very useful and as great starting points in your fall wardrobe.

Well done, TS - thanks for sharing! I'm now inspired to look for a leopard belt and an animal print scarf, maybe a zebra this time.

Thanks kellygirl! I also didn't realize that I DO like some prints. Esp. if they are sort of "neutral" prints (at least that's how I see these).

Lisa, Diane G - thanks for looking. And yes, I did find some combinations I wouldn't have necessarily thought of before. The first time I put on a leopard print belt with a burgundy top and jeans last Christmas it was like a light bulb moment. Since then I've been more creative with mixing colors/patterns than I ever was before.

Suz - You are so right, there is no need to limit ourselves to only a few accessories but for the sake of this particular exercise I felt it was good for me and sort of forced me to think about mixing things more creatively. I'm pleased that the python belt works with so many things I wear. I'm wearing it now with a warm gray top and white shorts.

CocoLion - I KNOW, right? The leopard print shirt is incredibly versatile I think(thanks to Ingunn's smart idea of searching on ebay to find the right one for me). A year or so ago I thought I was not on Team Animal Print at all and now I have the leopard shirt, a belt, a python belt, a leopard scarf and I've been trying to find the right snake skin or leopard print flat (have already tried a few that didn't fit).

Beautiful collages and beautiful outfits!

As for "cheating" -- I found it really made a huge difference in my "real life" capsule to allow an extra belt or two, an extra scarf, and an extra pair of shoes. After all, they are already in my closet. And the real point is to be able to wear your clothes -- it's not like a travel capsule, where you are limited by the size of a suitcase and what you can carry.

I love your choice of the emerald and burgundy and leopard print. Such rich autumnal tones and they play well together and with your denims.

I know how much work this is, and you are so clever with your collages here. My capsule posts have been very long, because I don't know how to create a collage! :) Did you find any combinations that you like but didn't think of before? That is one of my favorite parts of doing these exercises.

Thanks Sona and Pawprints. I didn't mention that I also considered that one could use the long leopard print scarf as a belt (but I do have a leopard print belt - just didn't want to "cheat" and use two belts in the capsule). I love how the leopard print scarf goes with the emerald green and the burgundy in particular.

Beautiful. I could live in this capsule all fall. Well, I'd have to change the BFs for full length and the black jacket for grey for my personal body. But for this is for you--I'm reminding myself because I really want you to ship it to me--absent on-you photos, it's terrific. Such a good mix of color and neutral, solid and pattern, classic and trend.

Okay so I *still* have not had time to actually put all of these on and photograph them but I did manage to photograph the items and create a very large number of potential outfits with Angie's fall capsule and a bunch of other great YLF capsules as inspiration. It is a fun exercise and very helpful to me. I managed to cull a jacket I had bought not so long ago when I saw it just wasn't going to work in my fall/winter mix - and was able to return it for a full refund so I was happy to have that extra money back in budget.

I bought a pair of black ankle booties but didn't have them for this photo session. I know I could def. create many more unique outfits using the black booties with the black moto and some of these same combos.

6 Tops: 3 patterned:
Lace Print Tee in Ivory/Gray Nordies
Navy and Gray Leopard Print Sweatshirt Gap
Leopard Print Blouse in warm tones Jcrew via Ebay
and 3 solid:
Burgandy long sleeved tee EB
White long sleeved tee EB
Emerald Green Blouse Jcrew several years ago

3 Bottoms:
Cropped Denim Slim BFs AE
Straight Gray Jeans AE
Chocolate Brown Jeans W&W

2 Toppers:
Black Spiegel Leather Moto
Dark Denim Jacket Jcrew several years ago

1 Belt:
Python and Black (reversible so really like 2 belts)

2 Shoes:
Grey Flats
Brown Booties

Handbag:
Python mixed browns/blacks

Scarf:
Warm Leopard Print

I won't describe all of these because it would take far too much space and you can see for yourself how many outfits can be created.
