Medium shoes are not created equal. I have small wide feet. ECCO fits me at the medium width size 35. For Munro I will need a 5 WW. Unfortunately you do need to try on a lot of shoes, I pretty much return 9 out of 10. If I don't count on my success with ECCO, I probably return even a higher percentage of shoes I tried on.

Zappos, it is. Thanks Ivy!

Would you believe I didn't even KNOW I had wide feet until a couple of years ago. I had been buying medium width my entire life. Then I a sales clerk at Clarks said why don't we try those in wide width? The shoes fit and I realized I needed a complete revamp of my shoe wardrobe. It has been difficult because I had come to associate shoes with discomfort and never enjoyed or looked forward to buying them.

Second, as Smittie said, the shoes can be heavenly in the store and then cause pain in unimaginable ways later.

I sympathize with having wide feet and I also don't wear heels. I buy almost exclusively from Zappos because you can search by width and they have a generous returns policy.

I can empathize with your shoe shopping woes. I have similar concerns -- restricted to wearing flats these days (due to a knee injury), hard to find size (12 -- high instep and need wide toe box for my duck feet) and overall fussy feet. I have found that the following brands work for me (and they carry wide widths):

http://www.softspots.com
http://www.softwalkshoes.com
http://www.sofftshoe.com
http://www.naturalizer.com
http://www.hushpuppies.com/US/en/home
http://www.clarksusa.com
https://www.munroshoes.com
http://www.sperry.com/en/home
http://www.bellavitashoes.com
http://www.easystreetshoes.com
Walking Cradles: http://www.thewalkingcompany.c.....oes-womens
http://www.earthbrands.com/womens-shoes

Sterling, you are kind to ask. My days have been filled with dealing with documents to read and sign and trying to go through our accumulations of over 30 years. My advice is don't accumulate. When older relatives die, do not bring home any "treasures". Maybe it is a good idea to move at least every 10 years. Warning: your children will not want any of your stuff.

The Munro Abbey is an Angie top pick that is available in wide. And if you like the white Kut Diana jeans, they are on sale right now.

Sterling, I hope that the Catherines work out for you. I have the Dianas and both regular Catherines and Catherine boyfriends, all in white. I wear white jeans a lot so need several pair to prevent laundry back-ups. They fit quite differently. I hot weather I like the boyfriends best as they are looser, almost baggy. When the weather gets cooler, I like the Dianas best as the most flattering. The regular Catherines fall in between.
You look good in all these, but my favorite is 5/25. Love this series.

Smittie -- I too am going to pay more attention to Angie's shoe recommendations. And I would probably be further along developing my shoe capsule except most of Angie's recommendations are medium width. I am afraid to even bother trying them because ..... well I would have to return them.

Sterling, I have trouble with professional looking footwear, because I find closed toe footwear is either a bit dowdy (ballet flats) or manly (oxfords).

So I wear heels, which are always perfectly comfortable in the store and then upon purchase, become immediately uncomfortable in a way that I could not have foreseen. Sigh. I've not figured out footwear. I think from now on I'm only going to buy Angie-recommended items.

I have a pair of flip flops very similar to what you have with a little bit of support in the footbed. They're my favorite shoe and I even wear them inside now, even though I'm a shoes-off household.
As to your outfits above, I agree with others than the powerwashing outfit is great, but I also love the BR tweed shell. I bet it would look good paired with white jeans.

WELL! I am moving those white jeans from my "filthy work" capsule to my "dressy casual" capsule.

Here is something else. I do own shoes. I really do! But I am ashamed of my shoe collection. I doubt any of them are what we would define as "stylish." ALL are utilitarian. They were purchased solely to accommodate my wide feet. They are all flats because I just stopped wearing heels.

No decision was made to purge all my heels. It just so happened that all of my heels were medium width and I learned to associate them with pain. I got rid of all of them in one single afternoon and never bought another pair of heels again. Now every time I look at a pair of heels, I remember pain.

I don't know how to buy shoes. I certainly look at them, but the minute I see that they are only available in medium width, I click away.

In an ideal world I would live in these two pairs of shoes. WHY can't the world see these as professional shoes?????

I really love your yard work outfit and also 25 and 26 both because they are fashionable and because the fit on you looks lovely and shows your feminine shape.

Like Carter, I love the Kut Dianas. There were one of my first purchases after joining YLF over 5 years ago and would you believe, with a little Oxyclean, they are still going strong? I also have a pair of the Gap real straights in white. I sized up for a slightly looser fit. Mine are raw edged and I roll them and wear them cropped. I got them on super sale and they're a very economical and excellent white jean. I really love having them as an extra pair.

So shoes vary. In no particular order, I remember wearing these. I wear a different pair of shoes each day. So I never wear the same shoes twice in a row. I do have to figure out some way to capture this part of the outfit.

The top on 5/26 is from Banana Republic. People in real life loved it as well. I felt fabulous in it. It is really comfortable and well made. I highly recommend it to everyone.

I hadn't considered that the two button downs were too short. I didn't even know this could be a thing for button down shirts. I just ordered a pair of Kut from the Kloth 'Catherine' Boyfriend Jeans (White). I'll try both button downs with the new white jeans (which will not be power washing jeans).

I like 5/25, 26 and 28 best because they look the most fashionable of the group. I really like the colour of the tote. What are you wearing on your feet?

Agreeing with others that 5/25 and 5/28 are my favorites. I love the gray print shell in your Wednesday outfit (sophisticated). And your "power washing" outfit is a good look for you. You look fabulous in white jeans and, although I know you prefer darker bottoms, this might be a nice way to occasionally mix it up a bit for the summer. You still can get the high contrast effect by wearing a dark or bright top with the white bottoms -- just as you did here. [I also have a preference for higher contrast outfits, so I really "get" why you gravitate towards these looks. For me, it has to do with the contrast in my coloring -- fair skin and darker hair.] I see what you mean about the boxier fit of the shirts on Sunday and Monday. I think the shirts are also a tad short. The colors on the shirts are great -- but the fit is not ideal.

Can I say I like the power washing outfit the best? : )

After that, the grayish shell in 5/25 (though it's a bit hard to see the fit on it from this angle).

5/25 and 5/28 are my favorites. I find them both very flattering, and they both look and feel "put together" and finished. The white jeans look fabulous on you. Please wear them out and about!

I agree with your assessment on the Sunday and Monday outfits. I struggle with the exact same things, particularly as the shape and rise of bottoms are changing. Personally, I would still wear both of these tops with white skinny ankle jeans.

I cannot believe you wore white Jeans for yard work. LOL You look great in them! Wear them outside.

I think I like Wednesday the best. Thursday's shell look great, but almost seems to me more of a evening look. Maybe it is pictures. Monday's shirt is not as fashionable as the others.

Second week. This week was not as cohesive as the prior week. This may be because I tried to shake things up by adding different colors and silhouettes.

Second week in and I still very much prefer high contrast outfits. I am still most comfortable in dark bottoms (dark denim or charcoal colored slim slacks). This might change as the weather starts to heat up. The single white bottom (5/28) was worn specifically for power washing/tree trimming/yard work. They are old jeans with a lower rise.

The most disliked ensembles are 5/22 and 5/23. The tops look unfitted, boxy, and sloppy to my eye. I certainly did not feel fabulous. I followed Janet's post regarding her button down tops and whether alterations might be a solution. I haven't made any decisions at this point (but those tops are on probation ... unless Forum Members have suggestions). Half tucks don't work with these shirts because they are stiffer fabrication. Full tucks look ridiculous.

Opaque white crew neck tee shirts continue to define my summer casual uniform (signature). Pearl earrings (signature). Tan tote and assorted shoes. I use this tote when I have a lot of heavy carrying to do. It is stronger than it appears in the picture.

I tried standing further back from the camera to capture my shoes, but my bedroom is only so long. My BF said he would take pictures of me in the future. The problem with that is we forget to actually do it and suddenly days have gone by without a single picture.
