I got *a* pair of riding boots, but not the ones I posted, and the blazer was really more of a puff sleeve jacket I got from H&amp;M several months ago. Not like the sculptural, extended shoulder blazer that I wanted that is now gone.</p> <p>Anyway, now that the pictures are up, I can tell you the boots were a stroke of pure luck. As I strolled down the aisles of DSW, with the typical glazed look on my face when confronted with thumping music and miles of shoes, I happened to spot a pair of flat riding boots that appeared to have a very narrow calf. I made a beeline over to discover they were a pair of Stuart Weitzmans, marked down significantly from their original $525 price tag, and the display pair was the last pair in my size (actually, it was a half size smaller, but I tried them anyway and they fit). I so happened to have a DSW coupon, so it was all meant to be. </p> <p>I had the buckle at the top on the loosest hook, but it looks like I should go tighter, since they were getting a bit saggy over the course of the day :\ But they really fit like a glove.</p> <p>Anyway, that's the story behind that, and at least part of the reason I was the only one who didn't buy anything at the gathering...except some pecan clusters covered in praline and dusted in cocoa powder. Somehow we didn't take photos of our purchases, but Lisa got <a href="http://www.talbots.com/online/browse/product_details.jsp?id=prdi25332&amp;rootCategory=cat70016&amp;catId=cat80050&amp;sortKey=Default&amp;section=Regular&amp;conceptIdUnderSale=cat70016">this scarf</a> in the green pattern, and I got<br /> <a href="http://www.talbots.com/online/browse/product_details.jsp?id=prdi25031&amp;rootCategory=cat70016&amp;catId=cat140087&amp;sortKey=Default&amp;section=Regular&amp;conceptIdUnderSale=cat70016">this necklace</a>, both on sale.</p> <p>One of the best parts of YLF meetups (besides the wonderful company) is getting useful input before making a purchase. It's so great to have people who know what they're talking about say "Yes, definitely!" or "Nope, pass."</p> <p>As we were leaving Talbot's, our very helpful SA said, "You all look so stylish today! You look like models." :)</p> <p>Then over to Second Time Around, a nicer consignment shop. My best "almost amazing" find of the day was a white Anne Fontaine shirt in my size, but we left it behind because it looked a bit discolored and we weren't sure it could be bleached back to life. But Lisa found a Theory denim jacket that fit her perfectly (PHOTO 3), and that (almost) ended our purchasing for the day.</p> <p>We needed some rejuvenation at that point, so we went to Max Brenner's. It's a restaurant, but their main feature is all things chocolate. We feasted on chocolate fondue, chocolate crepes, and sugar waffles. It's possible that additional chocolate was purchased from their takeout shop, as a souvenir of a glorious day.</p> <p>It was a treat to spend the day in such good company. Thank you Maya, Lisa, and Tanya for making the trek to my adopted hometown! </p>
