As Janet says, sometimes shoes look best in the black, and work best for your style too.

Those are great looking shoes, and I understand what you mean about the colors. Some styles just work better in certain colors, to my eye. Even though I also love burgundy, I can see how the black just works better for you.

I tried on a pair of metallic burgundy loafers in Zara the other day -- cute, but they slip right off my heels, a common problem for me with loafers.

I also loved the black Natashas and last year's PG loafers. I love the crinkled leather, the quality and the thick non-slip soles *but* they kill my little toes and the patent does not mold to your feet like leather does. They are made for regular width feet. I tried to make them work last year but ended up returning them. I ordered the similar Natashas but they are going back for the same reason.
I also have to work against the PG sales goggles and very much agree with your comment that I will not be shoeless without them

Firecracker and BrieN, your comments are just what I needed. All of the PG shoes and booties I've gotten so far have been great, no regrets, but these did not have the right- out- of- the box " yeah!" sensation either for fit or for how they look on my feet. So I need to watch out for PG- goggles as well as PG-Sales goggles. Maybe another brand, or just being patient for a new PG surprise down the road. It's not like I will be going shoe- less.

I was tempted by the black pair as well, and I almost never buy black shoes (I own 1 pair). I agree very much that the zipper, trim and texture of the leather make them much more interesting than your typical black shoe.

As for the fit, I'm just nodding my head. I purchased the PG loafers last year after going back and forth deliberating between sizes. I ended up buying too big and having to try multiple types of inserts. And it was the heel - as Firecracker describes above. I also tried on the PG loafers this year and my heel came right out of the shoe.

Take your time deciding.

I tried on these loafers at the sale, but didn't get them. I'm more of an oxford than loafer fan, at least when it comes to wearing them. (I enjoy both looks on other women!) But I will say that my heels slipped, in the size I have taken in 100% of the Paul Greens I have worn. So the heel may run a little wide for PG.
I wonder if the burgundy is also just not quite in your preferred burgundy palette. It seemed slightly warm to me. I got the burgundy patent AGL oxfords last year and it was much more toward the cool end of the spectrum.
If you don't love how these loafers look on your feet after a few days (in either color), don't feel bad about returning them. There are other cool loafers out there. My boss got a pair of thick-soled burgundy patent loafers by Earthies last year that are just adorable, and I much preferred the look of them to any of the Paul Greens I have seen.

i am trying on the PG Natasha loafer and had an unexpected reaction to the color options.
The first Find is shoes I had over a year ago but were too pinchy in the toes, probably both a size issue and toe was slightly pointy, so had to let them go. I thought at the time also I was " over" that style.
Then I thought I'd try the PG Natasha. Which wasn't easy because they were out of my size. The first to pop back in were black, which I ordered but thought, poo, I'll have to settle for black. But I love burgundy footwear, so I watched and grabbed them when size re- appeared. I was anticipating a big dilemma and temptation to buy both colors.
But lo and behold, now that both have arrived, I think I like the black better! This perplexes me, so I had to noodle on it. I do have more black pants and more likely to re-stock black ankle pants for work ( warm- season). I also wear loafers with opaque tights and skirts in winter, and black tight are the go- to, so black footwear is used more easily there. But it may also be something about the trim and " zipper"- the contrast adds enough to black to make it interesting and the burgundy isn't really necessary, and maybe the black makes them more dressy, to dial the creeper style back a little. They are comfortable but will some inserts/ adjustments because I size up for R foot and then heel slips. I think they make my ( big) feet look big , and more so than the ones I had to give away, so I would have to make peace with that.

Still, I have this weird FOMO reaction as in , oh, burgundy shoes, how can you let those slip away ? Or think how they work with navy. So I haven't sent either back yet.

Who else got the Natasha's, and did you have decision- dilemmas regarding which color?
