These are great! And neat about the can trick. I need to have some shoes stretched and found suggestions to place them in the freezer with a ziplock bag full of water; as the water freezes, the bag expands and stretches the shoe. I did not try this at home! (First, no space; second, I'm a germaphobe). I was thinking of taking my shoes to be professionally stretched by a cobbler.

Yeah, bettycrocker, it can be annoying. My instep has grown more sensitive in the past couple years. I hate pressure in that area, so I've given up on boots and shoes that have seams in awkward spots or tight instep fits. I kept finding awesome looking pewter booties that were way too narrow in the instep to be comfortable; wide width shoes are wide in the wrong part, so that doesn't work. I was so glad these stretched out perfectly!

I'm glad it worked out for you. Those are cool boots.

Thanks for the stretching tip. I have a high instep, too, and know how bad it is when shoes don't fit that area.

It's worked tremendously well! They are super comfortable to wear. One more reason to keep canned soup in the pantry in a variety of can sizes.

Nice work Kari. I love these boots. I bought a slightly more streamlined pair in pewter last year from Nine West and I think you will love wearing these. Not gold and not silver they work with everything! Enjoy

A couple months ago I posted about trying to find pewter booties, and I finally did! I wound up with these Diba booties. They are a darker, more distressed pewter in person. Nice structure, soft material and low heel. Double zip makes it easy to take on and off.

Many reviews recommended sizing down so I did, but the size down was uncomfortably tight at the instep and heel (though roomy in the toe, which is typically my trouble spot for pointy toes.) By that time the size up was sold out. So I managed to stretch the instep and heel by packing a soup can in a clean sock into the foot lying sideways, and another upright can wedged into the heel. Half a day was enough to stretch the shoe so it's comfortable to wear.
