After all, tall boots like the ones I chose for my outfits are really comfy and warm. And I am sure there is technology to make all kinds of footwear nowadays Thus, it seems that "<i>fashion reasons</i>" are the limiting factors for men: for example guys wear combat boots, but the tall ones like 14 or 20-eye Dr. Martens are used more like style-markers (especially when going for goth/punk/skinhead looks) despite their obvious practical advantages as footwear (I wear 14-eye Docs myself and believe they are extraordinary shoes). On the other hand, for renaissance/pirate boots, riding boots and tall sneakers, it is as if "<i>fashion reasons</i>" turn "<i>practical reasons</i>" into limited "uniform-uses": e.g. a guy in riding boots is almost expected to have a horse nearby, a guy in combat boots is an image of military/war or a figure at a punk concert, a guy in pirate boots is ...a pirate!? Anyway, "<i>men's fashions will recycle around again</i>"; that's what all fashion items do, I guess. Think of shorts and jeans for example. With the blue jeans, I prefer the look of black on top to balance out the boots (as in outfit 1, and also with the black scarf, in the last outfit). But it looks like you have shoulder-length black or very-dark hair, which is also a bookend to the boots, so outfit 4 may give a similarly coherent feel in real life. </p> <p>And for what to try next: burgundy! You've got it in the plaid shirt which is a really nice combination here, and maybe you've got some more burgundy to try. I guess&nbsp; I prefer more to de-emphasize the boots from the rest of the outfit, what you call a "masculine" nuance; make them look part of the whole. On the other hand, I know they stand out so I tried mostly the fit of blue and black, which by the way I also like a lot, and that combination seems kind of "unisex" , meaning there is space there to play it on both sides! Also, I believe that e.g. the white sweater-gray jeans-black boots outfit looks "masculine" because of scaled-contrast and loose lines.
