The tricky part about consistency is... consistency with what. Our decision on the YLF blog, or what people are accustomed to on other blogs or other blogging engines?

Over the years we've heard from several people that the way we're doing it on YLF currently is "wrong".

Anyway, the order is now switched. :-)

Thanks for the response Greg. I'm all for consistency in such matters, hence my initial question.

Hi Ornella,

This is one of those areas where there is a lot of debate. Like you, what makes most sense to me is...

< older ---------------- newer >

But actually the most common approach is...

< newer ---------------- older >

These are the default settings for WordPress and Blogger, arguably the two most popular blogging engines. I think it has to do with the fact that blogs are in reverse chronological order and the second option is consistent with that.

On the YLF blog, we do the opposite, but I decided to do the traditional thing on the Lookfab blogs.

But now that I think about it, I would prefer to be consistent with YLF, so let's swap them around and see whether anyone has a problem with that.

Hi Greg

I just noticed new (to me?) feature on the personal blog with links to previous and next posts at the top just like on the main blog... however, I think they are swapped, with the more recent post being linked on the left side and the previous one is on the right.

Photos below to illustrate the
1. Current chronological order of my posts (top post being more recent, so I'd expect to to be linked to from the right greyed link in the next photo)
2. The way they are linked to from the opened post
