Those skinnies are fab! You can tone them down for teaching by wearing a bootie or boot with a longer cardi or tunic. But for going out at night you can wear those heels and a shorter or tucked top and really wow em.

I adore that dress. I'm eager to hear where you will be wearing it. The only restaurant I can think of where I might wear something like that is the Arizona Inn. There has got to be other places I don't know about. I've only been to the symphony a couple of times in the afternoon and the dress was appalling. I wonder if evenings are dressier.

If I had pants that looked that hot, I would be wearing them to the max. They are stunning on you.
The black dress is very elegant. You can't go wrong with a little black dress.

Keep both! Your legs look a mile long in those pants, and the dress is beautiful and would be great both for layering over blouses, and as a great LBD to have in your closet in case you ever need it.

(I have the black scuba pencil skirt too - it's awesome! I even accidentally put it in the wash with other darks - the tag says to dry clean only - and it came out perfectly fine. Woohoo!)

Keep the pants they look great your legs go on forever. I love the Loft dress on you I could not make it work but I got the scuba pencil skirt & jacket. Don't you love that scuba fabric it is so comfortable and don't show ever lump and bump. (but you don't have any) Great finds.

Both the pants and the dress fit like they were made for you! Great finds. The shoes look good except for the booties -- to me, they seem to shorten your leg line because of the contrast in color. I think the pants are fine for teaching. Not sure about an academic conference -- as Jenava says, they need to be made less body con somehow.

Love the ruffle detail on the dress! LBD material for sure.

Thanks for the ideas Jenava, I will definitely be wearing a longer cardi or tunic over these pants to keep the outfit appropriate!

This is the dress: http://www.anntaylorloft.com/c.....;cid=A0001 It's the same fabric as their scuba line (I have the pencil skirt and love it!), and is very stretchy and feels like a ponte even though it's a woven.

I think the pants are fab on you; you might want to consider wearing a long cardi or tunic if you're going to wear them to a conference where everyone else is in pleated trousers (ETA - and I don't mean the cute, trendy kind...) (-: Or, at least pair it with some volume on the top so the overall look isn't too body-con.

The dress is amaaaazing. Is it a ponte knit? I can't really tell from the pic. I have a knit dress (Angie has the same one) that is knit and it's very comfy. You can dress it up (black dot hose, pashmina, patent pumps) or down (tights, denim jacket/chunky knit cardi, flat boots). I would say this definitely qualifies as a LBD.

OH, and you could also layer UNDER the dress to show off the ruffle - white button downs are great for this...or a thin, l/s or 3/4 slv knit.

I returned the H&M blazer today, and hunted for a better one, with no luck. I did however buy:

- brown really skinny pants at Gap (# 1-6) Do they work with all of the different shoes pictured (black pumps, red t-straps, cognac booties, brown boots), and are they too tight and/or trendy for teaching college students or wearing to an academic conference? Obviously I would be wearing very different things on top. Should I stick to trousers?

- black sculpted sheath dress Loft (7-9) It fits PERFECTLY! And was only $17 with all of the sales and deals going on!!! I'm curious how versatile it is - is this true LBD material? What kind of occasions is this dress appropriate for?
