Like you I love COH jeans. I like a mid-rise (8.5 - 9 inch) since I have a large booty but no hips. I must have 5 pairs of COH Avas (my favorite) but that never stops me from looking and trying on other brands. You might like Rag and Bone, their rise is also higher, they have a bit of stretch, pocket placement is good and the quality is tops. I used to love 7FAM but they have so much stretch that they start to fall down after a few hours. I like Paige HH and skyline ankle and RIch and Skinny legacy for skinny jeans. I also have two pairs of Madewell jeans the rail straight and the skinny skinny but I keep going back to my COH and the R&B. I also really like J Brand. Their newest skinnies fit really well. I have some AGs as well, I liked but never bought the premier skinny. Like you I prefer a dark wash without contrasting stitching to keep the look clean. And I don't do boyfriends either (yet anyway).

It is so rewarding to find that PERFECT pair, from front and back view. Problem is, the designers are always changing things up so you never know how long the style will be around. But it does keep things interesting.

These are the madewell skinny skinny, not much stretch so they do not fall down.

Congratulations! I've quadruplicated my current faves, the James Hunters. They have a 9 inch rise, too. I should try these AG too.

Hey, you look great! And I think it's actually a huge relief when you know something isn't your style. I've compared it to basic strategy for blackjack: once you know why it works, you don't have to agonize, you just do the same thing every time (step away from the pussy bow, Una!).

Wow those are perfect fitting jeans! Congratulations. I'm so happy to hear your review of AG jeans because I bought AG Tomboy jeans and I just love them. I love that the rise is perfect and the denim is comfortable and the back view is the best i've had in a pair of jeans in years (flat butt). I've been wearing my Tomboy jeans long instead of rolled. Angie OK'd that when we chose them. Maybe you would like the trend if worn long, or not. You do look great in your new darkwash bootcuts.
You hair is looking great too.

... and that description says 8.5 inch rise. I measured with my tape measure. These are definitely 9 inches and no less. That is in a size 26, if it makes a difference.

April, I just checked all over and I don't see a wash indicated anywhere on any of the labels. There's a code -- DAM1458 -- and when I plug that into google, I come up with this:
http://www.agjeans.com/The_Ale...../3471.html

... So I'm going to guess that the wash is called Willow. Yes, there is whiskering but it's quite subtle and "in all the right places" ...

You know what I find funny? I find it funny these are called "mid" rise rather than high rise. I said that to the sales person, and she said the trend is toward higher rises in general, so 9 inches is now considered mid-rise. Then again, on someone regular height, these may hit as a true mid-rise. As I see that on the model there are several inches between her belly button and her waistband: not on me. On me these are hitting just below the belly button.

The ones you linked to seem to have whiskering at the crotch -- I can't see whether the ones you bought do as well? If they don't, do you know the name of the wash?

Yes, duplicate and maybe even triplicate before they're gone, or they change the Alexa somehow.

Mamapickle and modgirl, I contemplated triplicating and hacking the third pair into clam digger length. These would totally work for that. But, I will hold off and stalk a good sale for that. Or just wait until I wear them out in the knees.

I only wear Paige Hidden Hills. I need a high rise too, and those are the ones that work for my body. I don't even look at other jeans anymore, and have many pairs, some for heels, some for flats. Makes my life much easier!

Oh my they are perfection. I had one pair of AG jeans that I wore to death. I wore them so much they knees wore out and I turned them into shorts. No other pants make my rear view look soooo good. If they fit, I would duplicate! It sounds like you are hard to fit.

AHHHH!!! I joy of a proper fitting pair of jeans. NOT to be underestimated, ever.

So glad you have found your perfect pair. These look terrific on you.

I sympathise with the rise issues. I also prefer a 9 inch rise, which can be very tough to find. I can manage okay with 8.5 if all else is "just so" but ideally I would prefer the 9 inch.

I like the brocade ones, too!

It sounds as if you had an all-round fabulous day. Great haircut, great bag, and new jeans!

If anyone's curious, these were the brocade jeans I tried on:

http://www.my-wardrobe.com/cur.....nny-510913

... except they were not black; they were a rich deep shade of navy/blue. I would've bought them if the rise was 9 inches, instead of 8-1/2.

Jeans are one of the most difficult items for me to fit. I have not bought new jeans in years, since initially arriving at YLF, learning what worked best, and stocking up on Citizens of Humanity jeans (bootcut, straight, trouser cut) and Urban Outfitters (BDG skinnies).

On a whim yesterday, after getting my hair cut, I walked into National Jeans Company. I was thinking maybe they might have boyfriend jeans I could try on (the Gap ones I ordered were not for me and have gone back). But then a pair of beautiful navy+gold brocade jeans caught my eye. Next thing I know, the sales person is pulling all sorts of jeans for me to try on.

The brocade jeans did not quite work out -- they were cute and had potential but were not perfect. So I pull on the next jeans in the pile... and I think I may have just found my personal Holy Grail of Jeans!

They are the AG Alexa Midrise slim bootcut:
http://www.frenchcuffco.com/st.....p13488.htm

I went on to try about 15 other pairs, brands/styles... and nothing could compare to the fit and flattery of these jeans. I hope YLF approves of the photos (not styled) and gives them the thumbs' up!

What I like about these:

1) They have a 9 inch rise, which is my ideal rise. They hit me right below the belly button in my personal sweet spot that magically erases any and all muffin top. Even my COH Elson's and Amber's come up a bit short on the rise at 8-1/2 inches, and I find myself needing a stretch cami and often feeling annoyed and wanting to pull my waistband up a smidge because I've got momma belly pouring out over the top. (sorry for the unattractive mental image, but it is what it is).

2) The denim is very similar to that of my COH Huttons (those also have the magic 9 inch rise). It is not too thick, slightly stretchy but won't bag out too much, and feels very comfortable on my skin, comfortable like pajamas. Comfortable as in "OMG, I could actually wear these jeans on a long airplane ride and be happy."

3) Slim bootcut is classic. In fact these fit a lot like the COH Huttons, which are my favorite jeans comfort and flattery wise, but my only complaint is that the Huttons have a fairly wide flare, so to my eye they fill the need for smart denim you can wear as substitute for dress pants to the office. I had even contemplated having the Huttons tapered in, to make them into bootcuts. Now I don't have to!

4) Dark wash, with dark thread. I do not like the yellow thread on jeans. That's just my personal preference.

5) Perfect pocket size and placement. I am very happy with the rear view.

6) I prefer them to the Paige straight legs I ordered for NAS; they are now going back. The Paige's have the 8-1/2 inch rise. They are also too stretchy for my tastes. And the denim is a lot heavier and just not as nice as the AG's.

Honestly, if I could have designed my ideal jeans, it would be these AG jeans.

If these meet with approval, I am going to duplicate, one pair for flats and another for heels, and then retire my Ambers and Elsons. They are nice jeans too, but the 8-1/2 rise has always bugged me, and the rear view is not as nice as these. I tried on the newer versions of those two jeans yesterday and the sales person and I agreed -- the pockets are just a tad too big.

Finally (and yes I've written a novel: ode to Holy Grail of Jeans), this experience yesterday made me realize that BF jeans really just aren't for me. I do admire the look on others, but it's not my style. Dark wash, polished, dressy denim is more my style. I won't rule out BF jeans entirely -- I'm just not going to deliberately hunt for them. If a pair finds me, we'll give them a whirl, but I just not a big priority and I'd see them as more of a "fun trend" wardrobe item rather than an essential. I'd be more apt to invest in perfect brocade jeans rather than BF jeans. Those look like a fun trend that is up my alley.
