WAHOOO Crazy Pants. (insert snoopy dance) LOVE!!!

I love the tops with the pants in #2, #3. I don't mind the length of the top in #1, but I think a semi tuck would make it look even more current. And I think booties with the pants would look really fun too -- either dark ones to match the top or light ones to bookend your hair and blend with the pants.

I'm sorry that I missed the info about your injury. I really hope you get better soon!

Oh no, missed hearing about your injury. I hope it isn't too serious. You really can rock statement pants. I think they add a big dose of interest to your outfits in a way that is compatible with being busy!

Thanks everyone! Krishnidoux and Neel, I do seem to be drawn to patterned pants and especially patterned ankle pants - I tell myself I can carry off the look because I'm tall.

Suz, I have been drawn to more simplistic outfits lately (but you know I like to keep the fun element in there!). The third from left outfit in #4 is, to me, boring, but I'm not totally sure why. Maybe because there's no patterned anything? I was also torn as to whether or not the Zara top was statement or essential, so perhaps too many essentials - kind of like what you were talking about on your other thread? Food for thought, anyway.

Firecracker, a retro vibe in #3 - yes! I call that sweater top (with a back zip) my Laura Petrie top, because it reminds me of the ones she wore in the old Dick Van Dyke Show re-runs.

Una, I was wondering about thinking of patterns as statements and wondering if any patterns that I have could be considered essentials. More food for thought!

Unfrumped, I am actually wearing a fluid, high/low top today - but with a tube skirt, not a pencil. I'll have to try the look with one of my pencils, thanks for the suggestion!

Love the printed pants with a fluid top.
I am a big pencil skirt lover and have really liked moving up size to very fluid , high low or curved hem tops. Have you tried something like that? Also I'll bet you also wear a printed pencil skirt well.

You look equally fabulous in your crazy pants and your pencil skirts, Karie. I agree with your essential/statement categories. Interesting how they worked out switching like that. I guess with plain pants you would have worn the statement tops, too. Your outfit proportions are so well done. I am really liking the windowpane pant outfit; it has a little bit of a retro vibe to me.
And sorry to hear about your foot injury! Same one that had surgery?

You are ruling the statement pants looks! I love these. I think you are right about S and E items. Pattern seems to make a difference - taking notes.

Karie, you were made for "crazy" pants!! I can't get over how flattering these are to you. I love the simplicity of these outfits. They are pared down compared to your style when you first arrived (crazy prints notwithstanding, LOL) and they make you look sophisticated as well as fun. LOVE the necklines of 2 and 3 on you. So, so flattering.

I love how you wear the pattern pants. Somehow I prefer tops in 1 and 3 with them. It's very personal because you look fab in all. As for the skirt outfits, they all look great too! My favourites are the first and last one. I am amazed at how different the floral top looks whether it's against the black or burgundy skirt.

It's been crazy busy at work since the start of the school year, so I've been relying on my fav wardrobe staple of all time - the pencil skirt. And looking back at my recent outfit photos, I've also been wearing a lot of patterned pants, or as JenA called hers at the Boston meet-up, "crazy pants." #1 and #2 definitely fit into that category!

First up, the patterned pants outfits. I would say that all the patterned pants are statements, and the tops are essentials.
#1 - Navy knit pullover - Joe Fresh (JCP), floral pants - Bisou Bisou (JCP), shoes - Sam Edelman (statement)
#2 - Black 3/4 sleeve button down - Macy's, pants - Joe Fresh
#3 - Cream pullover - Macy's, windowpane pants - H&M, shoes - Bella Vita Wow (statement)

So now on to the skirts outfits, and the statements/essentials are switching places. I would consider all the skirts (all are the same skirt, different colors from JCP) to be essentials, and the tops are statements.
Tops: Kimono wrap top, JCP (older and still a favorite), Naturalizer leopard print shoes (statement)
Watercolor camo sweater - Van Heusen outlet, floral print flats (statement)
Navy turtleneck (the turtleneck is folded down) - Zara, nude/beige flats (essential)

So how did I do? Did I get the statements and essentials right? All comments are welcome!

Oh, and I'm not wearing one sock in some of the photos. That's my foot wrap from my recent foot injury.
