Have you tried leggings? If you don't like knit ones, try woven or even athletic pants. I tried those long pencil skirts back in the day and they were difficult to move in even with a long slit. Most of the time the slit ended up torn.. They are also a pain in the restroom. They were longer back in the 90s when hems were longer in general.
