Definitely an hourglass. Ashley, if pants fit well everywhere except at the waist, then just take them to a tailor and have them take in the waistband. It's a straightforward alteration. It might work at least with the pants you already have in your closet.

Ashley, I'm usually a budget shopper too. My two pair of favorite jeans were under $100 together. I found them on clearance and at Buffalo Exchange (www.buffaloexchange.com). You can frequently find BR and BCBG trousers on good sale.
I've had some success with INC at Macys for trousers.

Ashley, your picture looks big enough to me. Even though it's not a full frontal body shot (that sounds dirty...anyway), I think it's pretty clear that you're an hourglass. I have the opposite body type so I'll let others give you advice on jeans and pants. You seem to have similar measurements and a similar body type to Tanya. Maybe she'll pop in and have some advice for you.

SarBear, I'm looking specifically for BOTH.

And like you, I prefer the higher waist ones too. It just looks and feels a whole lot better plus it accentuates my curves even better!

I am on a budget too so I want something within a range where I can buy.

Any local department stores that carry jeans for curvy figures?

Haha. I should think of that when I take my photos!
Are you looking for trousers or jeans, specifically? I like BCBG Max Azria trousers and Banana Republic's Jackson fit trousers. These are made for us curvy girls! (I'm an hourglass with pear tendancies.)
For jeans, I'm happiest with a higher rise. My current favorite fits are 7FAM High Rise bootcut, and Citizens of Humanity in the Hutton fit (the ones I'm wearing in today's blog post).

I didn't cut my hips off, I just blurred out the room because I didn't clean it yet...haha.

My measurements are 36.5(shoulders), 25.5(waist) and 36(hips). My thighs are 21.5.

From what I can see, I vote hourglass. The photo is large enough, but it's really difficult to be 100% without a full body shot. You can always white out your face if you're more comfortable that way. It almost looks like the photo is cropped a bit on either side, so I'm not sure if your hips are cut off or not.

It's tought to say because it's such a small picture, and it's not a full body shot. But from what I could see it looks like your shoulders are just as wide as your hips which would make you hourglass I believe.

Do I tend toward a Pear or Hourglass shape? And ladies, could you recommend jeans and/or pants that don't gape at the waist? It's a killer finding something that fits me!
