Kept everything locked into place. (I had actually been reading the site since July/August 2007, but it took me a while to feel comfortable enough to come out of the woodwork.) When I first started posting, my style was quite tame and conservative compared to what I wear today. Close to 3 years ago, this was about as far as I dipped my toe into the waters of pattern mixing:<br /> 1. <a href="http://inkariswardrobe.blogspot.com/2009/03/saturday-afternoon-wedding.html">a solid blue dress with an eyelet texture, a colorful paisley scarf, a white cap-sleeved blazer with a faint pinstripe</a>;<br /> 2. <a href="http://inkariswardrobe.blogspot.com/2009/04/eggplant-with-mint.html">a pair of tan trousers with a *very* faint crosshatch pattern with an abstract floral scarf.</a>;<br /> 3. <a href="http://inkariswardrobe.blogspot.com/2009/05/pattern-mixing.html">a crazy abstract printed midi dress in gray and blue tones with the same white pinstriped blazer</a>.</p> <p>Fast forward 3 years and my pattern mixing is a bit more adventurous, sometimes even teetering into the territory of "too much."<br /> Still, while I'm no <a href="http://whatiwore2day.blogspot.com/">Kasmira</a>, I still feel reasonably confident in an outfit like this one below:<br /> Black and gray abstract floral print sweater dress; pink-based small-scale floral print button down layered underneath (sleeves cuffed, collar popped); solid black hose; brightly colored tweed ballet flats with black patent toe and heel caps.</p> <p>This outfit was inspired by <a href="http://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/layering-under-a-wrap-dress">ClearlyClaire's comment on my last post</a>: "Why should your patterned dresses keep you from layering with a patterned blouse?
