Lyn, I just did a search on google and found a recommendation for using mineral oil or petroleum jelly. Take a small amount on a cloth, wipe it all over and then buff.

I think the bag could be fun with jeans, worn as a cross body. Just play around with it and if you don't like it, pass it on : )

Thanx y'all, ladies-I am carrying this bag today at work-to my black trench, and black suede long boots(it almost feels like autumn here now).
I feel it is a bit dark and heavy but lot of silvery hardware (not so much the patent) really adds a bit of edge and interrest to the all blacks, indeed-and is very roomy and practical, feels good on my shoulder too.
See what happens tomorrow..:-)).

Any ideea how can I clean the patent?

I do not aim to achieve mirror shine(or should I?), but still feelsomehow it's kinda more blurred than should, or THIS means simply the bag is WORN OUT in therms of patent?
(wet cloth doesn't help!)
Thanx again!

The bag looks great. Satchels are a classic silouette, so it doesn't look dated at all. I would carry it in fall and winter because of its size. Smaller black bags, at least to me, are seasonless. I don't usually gravitate toward really shiny handbags, but that is simply a matter of personal preference. Wear this with jackets, coats, whatever you'd like so long as it feels right to you.

I would use it, but I don't stress too much about things looking "dated." It just looks handy to me!

However, if you're not excited about it, pass it on. There's no sense cluttering up your closet with items you're not happy with.

Well, it doesn't hurt to try it out and see how it *feels* to you. I like black bags with non-black coats in the winter. It doesn't excite me though, and it sounds like you are feeling the same way. Maybe it's really good quality and expensive and you feel like you should make use of it, but if it's not *you*, that's ok too. Hopefully your donor won't mind if you pass it along.

It's a super bag! Not sure I love the long canvas strap - but you can take that off.

Just bumping here, as don't know why, but this thread didn't appear on Angie's blog (on the side bar left) as usual:-((.
Any ideea what did I do wrong?

As I never had a patent bag before (I only have a crock texturred clutch one in patent) I turn your question (Mochi) into:
-When is one supposed to wear nowadays a shiny bag? Which style, or life style?

Thanx for your comments, girls.

I think it's a classic style, too. I like it! Points to consider: 1. Do you like a big bag? 2. Is shiny okay? (I prefer matte, but am evolving with this.)

I really like it! That satchel style with pockets on the front is a fairly classic look, I would think, but I have never really been someone who followed the "in" bag of the season. It certainly doesn't look dated to me. I usually just wipe my patent leather things with a soft cloth, but I think you can buy special cleaning products.

I've just got this designer's bag, hand me down from my SIL. :-))
It's a bigger size black patent leather from Marc, with silver metal hardware and cord shoulder straps. I cannot decide on structure, as it is not that slounchy but it doesn't stand on its own either.
I'm a bit controversial on this.
I don't have a black bag, so would like to keep it.. Like the size, and it looks so practical, but seems a bit dated (I guess it's a few years old now)...or just don't quite match my style.(?)

How is this bag to your eyes? It is still wearrable, or not? Dated or not?
Shall I keep it or not?

Which season would you wear it?
Would you wear it with coats(wool but not puffers?) or just a trench and jackets in fall?

I don't really know how long has She used this bag but no major signes of wearring, so no scratches or tears, lining also impecable, zippers all work.

I never had a smooth patent bag before(but textured), so don't really know about it BUT patent is a bit blurry to my eyes(like a mirror when has patches on, or so)...

Any ideea how can I clean this?

Does it woth my effort?

Thnax for your input and a nice weekend to all.:-))
