Whoops I can't post the pic because this is a realtime post - will start a separate thread.

OH and it isn't that hot in the A/C - in fact we get quite chilly.

Claire and Charmain, I noticed the manager wears her tunic top shorter so it is more like a top and I think it looks good that way. It doesn't go below the crotch like it does with me. I think I'll give it a go. I think your short dress suggestion probably isn't suitable for my work Charmain, but thanks!

Suz. I can wear a pencil skirt to work and in fact do so most days. This top doesn't seem to go well with it colourwise - charcoal and dark blue don't seem to go together.
But I thought about your suggestion and tried the top on over a dress which might give a similar effect. What do you think?

I really like that neckline on you! And, as you said, the shoulders and bust fit well, so that's a plus.

I'm with clearlyclaire here, in that uniforms occasionally warrant a free pass. Ideas are: shorten the tunic so that it's a regular-length top, or (and I really have no idea how comfortable you are pushing the boundaries) trying to pass it off as a short dress by extending its length via long shorts or leggings (sorta like the last photo here).

Okay, so you have to wear a uniform and this is one of your three tops? I think you should keep it then. I also understand not being able to invest in new trousers right now. What to you think about shortening the top a little, since the pants you have are not skinny? Would that destroy it? I really like the way the top part of the tunic fits your neck and shoulders.

Anne, are you permitted to wear a pencil skirt in the heat to work? If so, this tunic (altered) might work really well with that for the hot days.

The top is really flattering on you and I would also vote to wear it with slimmer pants. Is it an option for you to slip it in the closet until you have another pair of trousers that might work?

Thistle, I work in a local government area, and they use one of those uniform providers.( Pretty similar to this http://www.lgcollection.com.au)

There are lots of options, and permanent employees get some sort of allowance and can choose what to buy. As a casual, I may buy them myself or just wear clothes that are appropriate and hopefully in the right colours (blue, teal, pistachio, charcoal and white) We seem to be able to get away with black too!

I have been given 3 tops that were left behind when others left ( they have a logo that my hand is covering up, so not really useful once you have departed!). The other 2 are blue blouses and today I took them both in to make them look less boxy.

Ok I didn't realize it was to wear in a medical setting. I thought it was just a scrubs top you wanted to wear as a top. If it's for work, then yes it looks good to me!

I agree that this top would look better with slimmer pants. Mi am not sure I understand your uniform. Is it just a uniform top and you wear your own bottoms? Are there different cuts of the uniform top? Shop employees have uniforms where I work, but all of them are exactly the same and there are tops and bottoms.

Raisin I thought it looked like scrubs too!! I think it is a type of tunic top. The uniform has lots of options so I don't HAVE to keep it. At least 3 other people in my workplace (including my immediate boss and her boss) have it. I suppose the uniform options are kind of business casual with some business formal pieces. We look like office workers rather than medical workers in the main!

Hi Anne. I hope you are enjoying being back at work. I'm pretty sure you mean to wear this for uniform, am I right? I like the top on you but I think maybe it needs slimmer / straighter pants? If you are not on the market for new pants then I would probably pass it on.

What kind of uniform top is this? It looks like scrubs or something? I think the shape is fairly flattering, but really, if it's a uniform top do you really want to wear that as everyday wear? Maybe I'm confused about what it is, but I'd say pass and wear a nice blouse.

The uniform tunic in these pics was another left behind by a departed employee and thus mine for free if I want it.

I think it would only work with trousers, and I only own this one pair (no jeans allowed) which is close enough to the dress code colours.

#1 tunic with trousers
#3 back view
#2 tunic held in at back to approximately show how I would take the side seams or back darts in (it fits well in the shoulders and chest)

My question is, given this is the only bottom I'd wear with it, does this item work at all? My worry is that the trousers are too voluminous and/or the tunic is too long. I could however shorten the tunic so I'd love your opinions on that too.
