Looks like Mr. M's childhood home in Altadena is gone--his family lived there when we married. We lived in LA for the first 12 years of our married lives. Hollywood, the beach communities--so many memories. The scope of the tragedies and the losses will take days or weeks to be known in full. We are on vacation in Mexico and safe, if horrified. We had minor wind damage and temporary power outage at our house but otherwise it's fine. The Thomas fire in SoCal that gutted my hometown a few years ago took out neighborhoods that had never burned. The fires in Sonoma did the same. The dry years are hotter and dryer for longer than they used to be, and as a result the fires are worse.
